Roman Reigns’ Next Movie After Zootopia 2 Unites Him With Another WWE Rival

Roman Reigns’ next big-screen move after Zootopia 2 is turning into a full-on WWE reunion tour. But with rivals instead of tag partners. After surprising everyone by sharing the mic with CM Punk as zebra buddy cops in Disney’s Zootopia 2, Reigns is about to square up with another long-time foe. He will be sharing the screen with Cody Rhodes.

And this time, they’re not animated, they’re not friendly, and they’re definitely not stripes-wearing law enforcement. They are jumping into the chaotic world of a live-action Street Fighter movie.

What is Roman Reigns’ Street Fighter Movie Really About?

Kitao Sakurai’s Street Fighter reboot will drop viewers straight into 1993. It is the same year Super Street Fighter II had teenagers emptying their coin jars at arcades. Roman Reigns steps into the role of Akuma. He is the silent, terrifying powerhouse fans know and fear. Cody Rhodes is going to bring the flat-top swagger of Guile to life.

The cast is pretty wild in the best possible way. New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Hirooki Goto will join the fight. Rapper 50 Cent will bring his own brand of intensity. Comedians Andrew Schulz and Eric André will show up for the chaos. And Jason Momoa will arrive because, honestly, if there’s a world tournament involving fists and fury, of course, Jason Momoa is there.

The film will follow estranged Street Fighter Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo. They aren’t exactly best friends right now. They get pulled back into combat when Chun-Li (Callina Liang) ropes them into the next World Warrior Tournament. It is a brutal showdown. But the tournament is only the flashy surface.

Behind it all is a conspiracy that threatens to pit Ryu and Ken against each other and drag them back into old demons. In classic Street Fighter fashion, if they don’t rise to the challenge, it’s pretty much “GAME OVER.”

Cody Rhodes Opens Up About Guile’s Fight Scenes in Street Fighter

Cody Rhodes has been having the time of his life, and also probably wondering why gravity suddenly hates him. Talking about his role as Guile, he explained how new the whole experience felt. “I’d never been on wires,” he admitted. He talked about trying to nail Guile’s signature move, the iconic flash kick. He said (via Superhero Hype),

If it’s in that movie, I wanted to get a shot at the flash kick. And I’d watched Jean-Claude Van Damme do it from the old school Street Fighter.

Rhodes also shared how surreal it felt being grouped with performers coming “from outside worlds,” including Roman Reigns. He said,

All of us get there… we’re all from outside worlds and coming in, leaders in our field.

Then came the moment that made everyone on set feel like they’d been drafted into a youth sports team.

They had us all sit down… and we watched a sizzle reel of an edit they had already made. I felt like I was on a Little League sports team… Kitao Sakurai, the director, that’s my coach.

That pep-talk energy worked. “They’re asking us, ‘Hey, look at what we’ve made in three weeks. Step up, guys.’ I felt like I was ready to run through a brick wall,” he said, proving that even movie sets can accidentally turn into WrestleMania training camps. He also teased a major scene halfway through the film where several characters collide at a “big centrepiece.” This sounds exactly like the kind of moment where Akuma and Guile might end up glaring at each other like they’re back at the Royal Rumble.

Reigns vs. Rhodes, round three. But this time, it’s not for a title. It’s for world cinematic glory.

So, are you excited to see Reigns and Rhodes sharing the big screen? Let us know in the comments!
