As of now, Sakamoto Days has not been officially renewed for a second season. However, given the overwhelming success and popularity it has garnered throughout its first season, the anime is expected to be renewed for Season 2 soon.
Based on Yuto Suzuki’s manga series of the same name, Sakamoto Days follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary hitman who retires to live a peaceful life running a convenience store, only to be pulled back into danger to save his family from his former enemies and colleagues.
Since its release in January 2025, the action anime has received positive responses from fans and the audience, and quickly became one of the most popular anime on Netflix for the first half of 2025.
Sakamoto Days Became One of Netflix’s Most Popular Anime
Sakamoto Days has received a huge response on Netflix, even becoming one of the most successful anime on the streaming giant. In July 2025, Netflix revealed its engagement report for the first half of the year, showing that Sakamoto Days had gained 24 million views.
At the time, the series was still midway through its run, with Season 1 concluding on September 23, 2025. This means the final numbers are expected to be much higher, possibly ranking it among the most-watched anime titles on Netflix for the year.
According to What’s on Netflix, the series remained in Netflix’s global top ten list for 14 weeks between January 12 and September 7, 2025, accumulating 106.8 million viewing hours, equivalent to 40.4 million completed views.
The series has clearly been a huge success. While it’s unusual for Netflix to delay a renewal announcement this long after a show’s end, fans remain hopeful for Sakamoto Days Season 2.
What to Expect from Sakamoto Days Season 2?
With 229 manga chapters published, the Sakamoto Days anime has so far adapted only the first 75 chapters, roughly nine volumes. That leaves a wealth of material still to explore, meaning plenty more action, humor, and surprises await fans.

Season 2 is expected to pick up from Volume 10 of the manga. This volume focuses on Taro Sakamoto and his allies, delving deeper into the mysteries surrounding the JCC database. If Season 2 follows the pace of the first, it could adapt chapters up to somewhere between Volume 17 and Volume 18.
However, nothing about the scope or release date of Season 2 has been confirmed yet, leaving the future of Sakamoto Days full of exciting possibilities.
