What are the latest Demon Slayer Infinity Castle box office projections?
Domestically in the US and Canada, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle is projected to earn about $73.2 million (in the range of $70 million to $85 million) in its three-day opening weekend from September 12 to 14. Over its entire run, it is predicted to make somewhere between $105 million and $150 million.
These figures are based on several reports from BoxOfficeTheory, which notes that its projections are well ahead of standard industry tracking which only believes that the movie will earn over $35 million. In line with this, a September 5 analysis from BoxOfficePro thinks that it will only rake in $40 million to $50 million.
That said, anime movies are tough for regular models to predict, and many are expected to be front-loaded, as Demon Slayer Infinity Castle is also predicted to be. After a few weeks of fans filling seats to see the movie, it is not expected that regular moviegoers will attend, especially since it’s more or less required for viewers to have watched the anime up to this finale arc. In other words, the movie likely won’t attract as many walk-up and casual viewers, though critics have given it a high 98% on Rotten Tomatoes so far.
Either way, the $73.2 million figure is more than three times higher than what it was predicted to make back in early August — just $17 million — when box office tracking for the movie first began. Presales for the movie have been incredible, setting records on Fandango, and activity on social media for the film has been likewise high. Theater promotions for the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle popcorn buckets, character cups, premium collectible cards, and collectible tickets have all been wildly successful.
To put all of these numbers into context, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle has already amassed $316 million worldwide, according to The Numbers as of September 11. The vast majority of this total, $213 million, comes from Japan, with the remaining $103 million coming from other Asian territories, notably South Korea ($30.8 million), Taiwan ($23.6 million), Hong Kong ($10.8 million), and Thailand ($9.4 million).
This $316 million figure is already close to the global box office numbers for various superhero movies, like Thunderbolts* ($382 million), Captain America: Brave New World ($415 million), and The Fantastic Four: First Steps ($515 million). This means that if the movie only gets the lower end of $105 million domestically overall, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle will move past Captain America: Brave New World.
And that doesn’t include the movie’s launch (also mostly on September 12) in Latin America, South America, and Europe where the anime series is just as popular. (It launches in France and Belgium on September 17, and Germany and Austria on September 25.) So after the opening weekend, we won’t be surprised if it overtakes Fantastic Four 2025 as the current ninth highest-grossing film of 2025.
