The anticipation for Shadow of the Erdtree, which arrives in the coming weeks, is high among Soulslike fans. However, the Summer Game Fest has left players equally excited for another title in this genre that has caught the attention of industry giants.

Hideo Kojima, one of the most renowned game developers, expressed his enthusiasm for a new release that promises to bring significant innovations to one of the most popular genres in recent years. Black Myth: Wukong, if it truly delivers the fun and complexity promised by its promotional materials, has everything to be a strong contender for Game of The Year.

Is Kojima More Excited for Shadow of the Erdtree or Black Myth: Wukong?

The game by Game Science is a strong contender against Shadow of the Erdtree.

The newest Elden Ring DLC is certainly on the radar of many players, but it seems that Kojima has a new favorite on the horizon. Black Myth: Wukong captured the imagination of the creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding since he saw the first trailer three years ago. Kojima mentioned that the game has an “original look, design, coloring, effects, and presentation” that sets it apart from other titles in the genre.
This title has been on my mind since I saw the first trailer about three years ago. Black Myth: Wukong. Its original look, design, coloring, effects, and presentation have an outstanding sense of style that sets it apart from other games. For those unfamiliar, Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG inspired by Chinese mythology and based on the classic novel “Journey to the West.” Developed by Game Science, the game promises intense combat and an engaging narrative, elements that have caught the attention of both players and critics alike.

Kojima, who has closely followed the progress of Game Science, stated that he is “looking forward to it” and believes that the theme of Sun Wukong is “familiar for my generation.” With Shadow of the Erdtree rapidly approaching, it is interesting to see how a new title can steal the spotlight.

It remains to be seen if this new soulslike game will live up to its promises and be able to compete for the Game of the Year title, something Kojima seems to firmly believe in.

Black Myth: Wukong was a Fan Favorite at Summer Game Fest

The game was also one of the highlights of the Summer Game Fest.

Black Myth: Wukong was one of the major highlights of the Summer Game Fest, with a new trailer that left fans even more excited. Game Science used the event to announce that the game will be released on August 20, 2024, for PS5 and PC, while the Xbox version will arrive at a later date.

The trailer showcased impressive gameplay, highlighting fluid combat, stunning graphics, and a rich world inspired by Chinese mythology. The game impresses with its intense battles against challenging enemies and gigantic bosses. Also, it features a vast variety of enemies, each with unique designs and attack patterns, adding depth and excitement to every encounter.

The protagonist, Sun Wukong, uses special abilities and transformations to overcome obstacles, providing a dynamic and varied gaming experience. Also. the visual effects and attention to detail make the game a true work of art, raising players’ expectations.
