If your Netflix “My List” has become a graveyard of half-finished dramas, well, you are not alone. In an era when it is hard to follow multi-season shows and a dropping attention span, one-week thrillers are your best bet. Not only do they fit in as the ultimate weekly binge-watch, but some of these also satisfy the entertainment craving to the max.

If you start tomorrow (or today!), these five picks will keep you clicking “Next Episode” until the credits roll on the finale. So, buckle up, as here are the 5 best thriller shows on Netflix you can finish in one week!

5. Black Earth Rising (2018)

average episode runtime = 60 minutes (8 episodes)

A British psychological thriller miniseries by Hugo Blick, the series centers on a legal investigator, Kate Ashby, whose life takes a perilous turn when her adoptive mother gets embroiled in a legal case involving the Rwandan militia. If you need a thriller with some intellectual weight, then this visually stunning eight-episode series is your best bet.

Although it is pretty demanding, Black Earth Rising is also a show that will stay with you the longest. It is not just a thriller but a deeply political drama with heavy personal storytelling. Feeling like a novel compressed into eight hours of television, you need a full weekend for this one, for you will need the time to process the twists.

4. The Åre Murders (2025)

average episode runtime = 44 minutes (5 episodes)

A Swedish Nordic television series based on Viveca Sten’s murder-mystery novels Hidden in Snow and Hidden in the Shadows. It tells the story of a detective named Hanna who leaves Stockholm to live in the remote city of Åre, only to uncover a mysterious missing-persons case.

Nordic thrillers have a distinct feel, with their quiet, unsettling storytelling, and this one leans perfectly into that. The snowy setting only adds to the discomfort, while the mystery keeps the stakes high by leveraging the claustrophobic resort-town setting to its advantage. From personal viewing experience, this is the kind of show you watch late at night with the lights off.

3. As You Stood By (2025)

average episode runtime = 60 minutes (8 episodes)

This South Korean crime thriller is not for the weak. Based on the 2014 Japanese novel Naomi and Kanako by Hideo Okuda, it features a woman helping her best friend to escape her abusive husband. One of Netflix’s sleeper hits, it explores guilt, silence, and the consequences of inaction with its perfect play on the “Bystander Effect.”

This is the most psychologically intense show on this list. Less about what happened and more about why no one stopped it, it sticks with you the longest. It raises uncomfortable questions about morality and responsibility while not wasting a second on subplots. Each episode feels like a countdown; if you start this on a Sunday morning, you would likely end up finishing it by evening.

2. How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (2026)

average episode runtime = 50 minutes (8 episodes)

An Irish dark comedy thriller created by Lisa McGee, it follows three childhood friends who reunite in their 30s after the death of a fourth friend. What starts as a funeral reunion turns into a terrifying cross-country quest.

This show stands out because it mixes tones so well. One moment you are laughing, the next you are completely unsettled. Unpredictable, funny, and emotional, it has all the elements to keep you engaged. It is a great Thursday-night binge that lightens the mood without losing the thriller edge.

1. The Beast in Me (2025)

average episode runtime = 48 minutes (8 episodes)

A psychological crime thriller miniseries created for Netflix, The Beast in Me stars Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. No less than a psychological game of cat-and-mouse in the suburbs, it follows a grieving author who becomes obsessed with her new neighbor, who allegedly killed his wife. It is the perfect example of internal conflict, as much of it is about what is happening inside the protagonist’s mind.

It keeps you constantly on the edge with questions like ‘is the real danger inside or within,’ keeping you awake. What makes it so bingeable is how unsettling it gets with every episode. Having a stable pacing, you keep getting drawn in with every episode. And before you realize it, you are halfway through the season.
