Nia DaCosta and Ralph Fiennes’ 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple took a change in its music direction with Hildur Guðnadóttir (Chernobyl, Joker) taking centre stage as the music composer.
Naturally, with Guðnadóttir’s love for uncomfortable sounds, the soundtrack of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is quite iconic. Featuring a mix of punk rock songs from Danny Boyle’s time, to incorporating sounds of human moans to recreate the sounds of human survival’s psyche, here’s what the soundtrack of the zombie horror sequel looks like (via Radio Times).

Of course, there’s a reason why the tone shifted from Danny Boyle’s punk rock to a more sinister and uncomfortable sound in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Shifts Away From Traditional Music Tones
The earlier films by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland had a certain punk rock aesthetic to them. Being more about the chaos during the fallout of society and the spreading of the Rage Virus, the music was also chaotic and frantic.
On the contrary, Hildur Guðnadóttir’s choice for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was more sombre and kept as if the world were already destroyed. With metallic sounds, Guðnadóttir wanted to depict a world that is slowly breathing life again.
Although to honor the older movies, director Nia DaCosta and Guðnadóttir used plenty of punk rock songs to ground the film as a survival despite having themes of larger-than-life.
With the release of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the film has received overwhelmingly positive reactions from critics and fans alike.
