The Marvel Cinematic Universe has generally portrayed Bruce Banner and The Hulk as two distinct personas sharing one body. In the comics, however, The Immortal Hulk expanded that idea by further defining the multiple Hulk personalities within Banner’s fractured psyche. The broader Hulk mythos has also grown far beyond Bruce himself, with other gamma-powered characters and alternate versions adding to Marvel’s larger roster of Hulks and Hulk-like monsters.
Once seen as one of the core parts of Bruce’s psyche, Savage Hulk is now understood to be only one personality within a much larger internal system made up of Banner’s repressed selves. Since the character’s debut in the 1960s, many other figures have taken on the Hulk mantle, and some have proven powerful enough to challenge the Savage Hulk persona directly.
Here are 10 of them, including personalities within Banner’s system and other Hulks across the Marvel Universe, that could give Savage Hulk a run for his money.

Unlike the version of Professor Hulk depicted in the MCU, the Professor Hulk of the comics is Bruce Banner’s idealized form. He combines the Hulk’s full strength with Banner’s intelligence and Joe Fixit’s cunning. This is the version of the character who was brought into the future to defeat Maestro. Although Professor Hulk did beat Maestro fair and square, that victory depended in large part on his intelligence and strategic thinking. Savage Hulk is a much simpler creature by comparison and would likely be overwhelmed by Maestro, who possesses the Hulk’s full strength and is even more powerful due to absorbing nuclear fallout.

Tammuz was a young boy sacrificed to the Good Green Eye so that his tribe might survive a drought. However, the Good Green Eye was actually a source of gamma radiation, which itself originates from the One Below All. Consumed by hatred for his people, Tammuz was resurrected as a horned green goliath. He later took the name Enkidu and clashed with the Eternal Gilgamesh, who was unaware of his true origins.
Unlike Banner’s Hulk, who appears to age more slowly but still ages, Enkidu has displayed extraordinary longevity, surviving for thousands of years without aging a day. Given that Gilgamesh possesses abilities that allow him to reshape matter at the molecular level, it is reasonable to argue that Enkidu, who fought him as an equal, has the power to defeat Savage Hulk.

Weapon H is far more versatile than Savage Hulk. While his chances against Savage Hulk may be relatively slim, his probability-manipulation field gives him an edge against most opponents. In addition to possessing traits derived from Wolverine and the Hulk, Weapon H also carries abilities linked to Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, Warpath, and Domino. Combined with his training as an expert marksman and hand-to-hand combatant, those enhancements make him a legitimate threat to Savage Hulk in ways that other gamma mutates have not yet managed.

Introduced after The Immortal Hulk, Starship Hulk reimagines Bruce Banner and the Hulk’s relationship in a disturbing new way. Instead of struggling with the monster for control, Banner pilots Hulk’s body from a mental “bridge,” treating it like a starship. Meanwhile, Hulk is imprisoned deeper within Banner’s psyche, where his rage is used to power the body itself. The result is a Hulk form driven by Banner’s intelligence and strategy, but still fueled by the raw anger that makes Hulk so dangerous.

Mindless Hulk represents Bruce Banner’s vision of the Hulk at his absolute worst, manifested as a separate personality within his fractured psyche. Nightmare later amplified that aspect, creating a version of the Hulk stripped of even the few inhibitions that Savage Hulk possesses. Reduced to pure instinct, Mindless Hulk is a feral force of destruction with little restraint. Because of that, he could arguably overpower Savage Hulk, as he embodies one of the most destructive versions of the character ever made flesh.
5. Mega-Hulk Is A Kaiju-Sized Nightmare

Mega-Hulk was created when Bruce Banner bombarded Savage Hulk with gamma radiation in an attempt to be rid of him. Instead, the experiment produced enormous gamma monsters that devastated humanity. At Sam Wilson’s urging, Bruce eventually stepped in to save the survivors, using an atomic bomb to transform himself into a kaiju-sized monster as well. In this form, his power far surpasses that of the standard Hulk, making him more than capable of overwhelming the Savage Hulk persona.

Devil Hulk is one of Bruce Banner’s most dangerous internal personas, representing a darker and more ruthless form of the Hulk that exists to protect him at any cost. After years of limited use, the character returned to prominence in The Immortal Hulk, where he played a major role in Banner’s fractured internal world. Within that mental landscape, Savage Hulk alone was not enough to deal with him. It ultimately took Bruce Banner, Joe Fixit, and Savage Hulk working together to bring him under control, showing just how powerful Devil Hulk had become.
3. Titan Is What Happens When The Hulk Hulks Out

Titan emerged during Bruce Banner’s Starship Hulk experiment, in which Banner piloted Hulk’s body from within his own mind and used Hulk’s rage as a power source. As Banner kept pushing that system further, something even more dangerous eventually surfaced: Titan, a monstrous black Hulk form promoted by Marvel as “the Hulk’s Hulk.” Far more violent and powerful than Savage Hulk, Titan represents an escalation of Hulk’s rage beyond Banner’s control. While exact power comparisons are still a matter of interpretation, Titan is clearly meant to be a form that Savage Hulk would struggle to overcome.

Green Scar is the persona Hulk developed to survive on Sakaar. According to Rick Jones, Green Scar is essentially a fusion of Bruce Banner and Hulk’s more intelligent personas, with Hulk remaining in control. A seasoned gladiator and capable tactician, this version of Hulk surpasses Savage Hulk in several ways. Smarter and more strategic, Green Scar can be thought of as a version of Hulk that retains Banner-like intellect without giving up Hulk’s dominance. He has also been described as the strongest of Hulk’s primary personas, including Savage Hulk.
10. Nul, Breaker of Worlds, Makes Hulk Thor’s Worst Nightmare

During the Fear Itself storyline, the Serpent sent seven hammers to Earth, each capable of transforming its wielder into one of his empowered Worthy. One of those hammers found the Hulk, transforming him into Nul, Breaker of Worlds. In that form, Hulk became so powerful that Thor admitted he could not defeat him directly and instead chose to launch him into Earth’s orbit. Although several stories have shown Thor battling the Hulk in his normal form and emerging victorious, Nul operates on an entirely different level of power. Compared with that version of Hulk, Savage Hulk would stand little chance.
