With the entry of the X-Men finally slated to happen in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, people are expecting a whole plethora of both familiar and unfamiliar mutants to make their way into the MCU. And the possibility of witnessing an Omega-level mutant threat on screen has people even more excited for the X-Men’s introduction.

Thus, with RDJ’s portrayal of Doctor Doom being expected to shake up the entire power structure of the MCU, here are the top 10 mutants from Marvel’s roster that can prove to be a serious threat to him in the MCU’s future.

10. Iceman: Cryokinetic God

Real name Bobby Drake, Iceman is a mutant who has the seemingly simple ability to freeze things on the surface, but in reality, he is so adept at doing so that he can freeze individual molecules of almost any matter.

In fact, he can stop the entire Earth’s rotation by just supercooling the atmosphere and the oceans, all the while being virtually immortal due to the ability to duplicate himself through creating a new body from ice.

Thus, if he is let loose, Iceman can take down Doctor Doom in an instant, but he still would need to outsmart the Monarch of Latveria to do so, which is easier said than done.

9. Elixir: Life and Death Personified

Possessing the ability of Biokinesis, Josh Foley, a.k.a. Elixir, has virtually the control of the natural flow of life itself. He can manipulate the core structure of organic matter within his reach, which also includes himself, making individual cells in living beings regenerate or repair at will to such an extreme level that he can even bring people back from the dead.

But at the same time, he can also make the core structure of organic matter degenerate at will, which means he can kill anyone by just being near them. Thus, if Doom starts lacking and lets Elixir anywhere near him in proximity, it’ll be game over in an instant.

8. Legion: Omega-Level Overload

Being the mutant son of Charles Xavier and Gabrielle Haller, Legion, real name David Charles Haller, is an extremely gifted individual who, unfortunately, also suffers from the burden of having Omega-level powers.

Due to his dissociative identity disorder, Legion suffers from extreme bouts of schizophrenia and other related mental disorders, which combined up to 200 unique personalities. But at the same time, each of his identities possesses different mutant abilities or powers, all of which are at his disposal depending on the dominant identity at the time.

On a base level, he can alter reality and time on a cosmic scale at will, which is exponentially enhanced with all the other abilities that he possesses, like shape-shifting, pyrokinesis, psychokinesis, and many more. But the reason why Doom might still come out on top against Legion is the fact that he’s just too unstable during fights, as witnessed in FX’s Marvel series, Legion.

7. Magneto: Antithesis to Doom’s Technology

Rightfully claimed to be one of the strongest X-Men in existence, Erik Lehnsherr, a.k.a. Magneto, is the Omega-level mutant possessing the powers of manipulating magnetic fields on an extremely wide area. This means that any metal that can be magnetised is under his command, even the ones in people’s bloodstreams, no matter the quantity.

And with Doctor Doom relying heavily on his technology for the most part, Magneto can render his technical genius completely irrelevant for the most part. But still, Doom is also a well-versed sorcerer, which presents a significant disadvantage for Erik on the battlefield, as Magneto’s powers have little effect on magic.

6. Storm: Goddess of Nature

Ororo Munroe is often shown to be a god-like being, a deity that people call Storm, and with good reason. With the ability to control all forms of weather over vast areas, she can bring entire countries to their knees or bless them with good weather all year round, which leads to people worshipping her benevolence.

Thus, with control of such powers on an almost sub-molecular level, she can destroy almost anything and everything in the material world with her mere thought. Thus, the challenge against her for Doom would be to test how far his magic specifically can push, because his tech may be rendered completely useless.

5. Exodus: The Immortal Mutant of Belief

Originally revealed as an Omega-level supervillain, Exodus possesses an unimaginable level of powerful abilities like telekinesis, telepathy, and teleportation, along with durability and the power of healing. But that’s not where his true power lies, as the amplification of his abilities has no ceiling; the more he has faith in someone or something.

Thus, similar to the Orks from Warhammer 40K, if he believes in a person, a thing, or even a concept, he can borderline defeat anyone through his abilities, which become unpredictable with increasing power levels. Thus, if Doom doesn’t contain him, Exodus may just prove to be the end of him.

4. X-Man: Marvel’s Mutant God

The son of Jean Grey (Phoenix) and Scott Summers (Cyclops) from an alternate reality, Nate Grey (a.k.a. X-Man), is a god-like entity who deserves the title of Omega-level. Possessing psychic abilities that were once able to surpass even Professor X, he also uses the magnitude of such abilities to manipulate matter and energies at will.

This allows him to move even the tectonic plates of Earth and entire worlds with just a thought, changing the battlefield in real-time. With such an unpredictable and gifted mutant, Doom may not have anything to counter him.

3. Jean Grey (Phoenix): God of Destruction

If Jean Grey herself wasn’t already an Omega-level threat, her being possessed by the celestial destructive force known as the Phoenix Force makes her virtually unstoppable. This allows her psychic abilities, such as telekinesis, telepathy, and psychic energy manipulation, to be enhanced on a cosmic level, so much so that she can manipulate matter on a molecular level.

And with the threat of the Dark Phoenix pushing all of her powers into states of destruction and annihilation, she will no longer be in control, leading to the vaporisation of not just Doom, but even her own allies.

2. Vulcan: Eater of Elements

Cover page of X-Men: Emperor Vulcan | Credits: Marvel Comics

The long-lost younger sibling of Cyclops, Gabriel Summers, a.k.a Vulcan, just like Scott, is a mutant battery of power, but exponentially more powerful on a cosmic scale. He can absorb and consume almost any kind of energy that exists in reality, which sustains him, and gives him the ability to shape it and use them in forms of massive blasts or shaping it into various forms.

And with everything that Doom can throw at Vulcan being some permutation or combination of energy, he can simply absorb and manipulate it to his will, putting even the Latverian Monarch in a pit of despair and helplessness.

1. Franklin Richards: Beyond Omega Level

Classified as being even above the Omega-level, Franklin Richards truly defines the word God in every sense. Even before he could form words, he was able to use his psychic abilities to scan the entire universe and literally see everything that was happening at a particular time. He also used supreme-level energy manipulation before he could form complete sentences.

But his true powers are in reality manipulation, which means whatever he believes or conjures is possible. From managing to perform unbelievable feats like reviving celestials like Galactus to serve him to creating entirely new multiversal realities, there’s nothing that can stop Franklin from erasing Doom from existence entirely.

Here’s an overview of the aforementioned characters.
