The new season of One Piece dropped on Netflix on March 10, 2026, and since then, fans have been questioning why Captain Alvida looks different in Season 2. Captain Alvida is a significant character in the One Piece world, portrayed by Ilia Isorelýs Paulino in the live-action series. Alongside Paulino, the series features Emily Rudd, Iñaki Godoy, Taz Skylar, Mackenyu, and Jacob Romero.
How One Piece’s Captain Alvida looks different in Season 2
In One Piece Season 2, Luffy and his Straw Hat crew embark on a new adventure into the Grand Line. However, in Loguetown, they encounter their old foe, Captain Alvida, who looks completely different this time.
As the live-action series is directly adapting scenes from the anime, Alvida has gained a power upgrade in the form of a Devil Fruit in Season 2 of the live-action show. Alvida has gained the powers of the Slip-Slip Fruit (Sube Sube no Mi), which makes her skin extremely slippery. This characteristic lets her evade bullets and other attacks, as weapons slide off her skin without causing any damage. The Slip-Slip Devil Fruit has also made a noticeable change in Alvida in that she now has a slimmer build, in contrast to her previous heavy build.
In the anime and manga, Alvida’s slim figure becomes a focus of attention, and her beauty becomes a hot topic among pirates. However, in the live-action version, that aspect has been removed, and the focus has remained on her newfound strength. Moreover, the actress Ilia Isorelýs Paulino returns to play Alvida and has undergone a significant weight-loss transformation for the role.
Alvida partners with pirate captain Buggy during the Loguetown arc to attack Luffy in the town. As per Tudum, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has stated that the new season will focus on “Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whisky Peak, Little Island, and Drum Island.”
