An intense fight scene from Man of Tomorrow recently surfaced online. While it remains mostly mysterious, there are some things that it could mean for the upcoming DCU movie.
As of now, little is known about Man of Tomorrow, outside of the fact that it will release on July 9, 2027. James Gunn will once again return to direct, which will see a litany of stars from Superman reprising their roles. This includes David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
Newcomers to the movie, alongside Walls, include Lars Eidinger, who will play Brainiac, Aaron Pierre (John Stewart/Green Lantern), and Adria Arjona, Andre Royo, and Matthew Lillard in currently undisclosed roles.
Man of Tomorrow’s fight scene could mean a number of things
As Man of Tomorrow continues to film, many new set videos are making their way online daily. In one of the biggest, fans spotted a fight scene between Superman and Lex Luthor being filmed. In the scene, Superman can be seen throwing down Luthor (who is inside of his new Warsuit), then repeatedly punching down onto the glass enclosure surrounding Luthor’s head. Around the pair, people can be seen watching, with some even cheering on Superman as he fights.
It’s unclear exactly what the scene means, but there are a few leading theories we can run with. For one, the fight could simply be early on in the movie, and feature Superman and Luthor fighting it out before the pair have to join together to stop the real threat, Brainiac. Superman and Luthor are no stranger to being adversaries, but didn’t come to hand-to-hand blows in the first film. With Luthor’s new Warsuit, though, the pair can now meet face-to-face in combat.

Another possible theory is that Superman isn’t really himself at all. What we do know about the Superman follow-up is that it will follow Superman and Luthor coming together reluctantly to face an even bigger threat in the form of Brainiac. For those unaware, Brainiac is one of the smartest comic book characters around, and is able to manipulate both the minds and bodies of people. Is it possible he’s somehow taken over Superman’s body, and is puppeting it similar to how Luthor did of Ultraman in the first movie?
Finally, we could also just be witnessing the end of the movie. With Brainiac captured or taken care of, it’s possible that Superman and Luthor will turn on each other and fight it out to end the movie. The complicated relationship between the pair is likely something that will be explored throughout the film, so it’s really possible that the scene could fit in at any point. We’ll just have to wait to see more for now.
