What are the latest box office projections for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle?
The latest US box office predictions for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle have it earning $13 million to $22 million in its opening weekend and in the range of $20 million and $39 million in domestic sales overall.
These figures come from a July 31 report from Box Office Theory (via Reddit), which added the movie to its six-week projections. The report believes that the movie is “shaping up to become the next domestic anime breakout following its box office record-breaking start in Japan.”
Indeed, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has been smashing the box office in Japan. As reported by Luiz Fernando on X (formerly Twitter) on July 31, the movie crossed the $100 million mark and within two weeks has become the 16th highest grossing film of all time in the country. It also reached over 10,8 million admissions, above the 20th most watched film in Japan, E.T: The Terrestrial back in 1982.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is not a compilation of episodes but a full-fledged film and is the first of three movies in the series finale. This is why we won’t be seeing a Demon Slayer Season 5. A limited-edition popcorn bucket for the film is available in Japan, but we’ll have to see if it will make an appearance here in the States.
