Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/sector 3 operation Whirl Stroke have killed a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle, and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist camps.
The incident took place on 7th July 2024 at Ikiyayo Forest, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations Officer, Oni Olubodunde, released a press statement detailing the operations that led to the success story.
According to the statement, acting on credible intelligence reports, regarding the presence of terrorist elements, the operation was executed when troops of 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B OPWS swiftly moved into action.

“During the combing of the forest, the troops encountered the terrorists, engaging them in a heavy gunfight which led to the neutralization of one terrorist,” the statement read.
“Recovered items include one AK-47 rifle, AK-47 magazine, and 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Additionally, multiple camps used for planning and executing attacks were completely burnt.”
The statement added that the Nigeria Army remains resolute and decisive in its mission towards ensuring peace and security of lives and property of citizens.
“We, therefore, urge the public to continue supporting our efforts by providing timely and accurate information on suspicious activities of terrorists and criminal elements, together we can defeat the scourge of terrorism and build a safer society for all,” the statement said.
