The final episode of Tougen Anki Season 1 is already here, and in all honesty, it was a pretty decent episode to wrap things up. The Nerima Arc ends, and Shiki & everyone else also get to learn more about Kishin and the powers of his descendants. Glad it was a classic season-ending episode, especially since the opening wasn’t played as well.
Everything in it was perfectly executed for what the anime had built up so far. Like Mikado trying to send his apologies to Shiki via Mudano, only for Mudano to tell him to say that by himself. Also, the reappearance of the flirty Oni doctor Kyoya was nice to see. Thanks to him, not just Shiki but everyone else who got injured was healed within a day.
And yes, I must not forget to mention how sickly burned Shiki looked. Sure, it would’ve been painful as hell, but the fact that he was completely burnt and they brought him back to base naked was funny to hear. And, it’s crazy that Kyoya healed even him without leaving a single mark.
Some of the Kishin kid stuff was also highlighted, but it was mostly things we already knew. Still, hearing all that only strengthened Kougasaki’s resolve to get stronger. Despite not having Kishin powers, he swore to Shiki (in his tsundere way) that he would become stronger than him even without them. Now that’s real competition for Shiki.
Watching Shiki & Mikado’s Reconciliation Was Heart-Warming
Next up, we had the highlight of Episode 24: Mikado finally facing Shiki, but this time, they don’t have any misunderstandings. Ideally, as Shiki also says, it would’ve been better if Mikado never had such misunderstandings to begin with, but even this outcome isn’t too bad.
Also, getting to see Mikado crying wasn’t something anyone there expected. I expected it, though, but still, it was truly wholesome and heartwarming. Now the two have become better friends than they ever were initially. At first, they just hit the vibe, but now they also share each other’s secrets, which in reality is a lot. And from here on out, they’re going to be even better partners.
I’m excited to see when the next time the two will meet- not as enemies anymore, but as friends forever. They can even shake hands to fight against evil together next time, and honestly, that would be quite sick.
Though the Dust Has Settled, Shiki’s Journey Is Far From Over

After the credits for Season 1 rolled, there was a ton of stuff teased. It turns out Mudano is an even more earnest guy than we knew before. When Shiki visits the graveyard, he sees Mudano there as well, praying. But Kyoya interrupts him from disturbing Mudano for a while and shares something crucial about him.
Apparently, Mudano has tons of tattoos on his body, and each tattoo signifies one fallen comrade. But you know Shiki. Upon hearing that, he immediately goes up to Mudano and promises, loud and clear, that he isn’t going to die and won’t let anyone else die either. This suggests that after the Nerima Arc, the story is really just getting started. Now, let’s see in the later seasons how exactly Shiki lives up to his words.
Tougen Anki is currently available to watch on Netflix.
