NEON has revealed its latest movie project The Young People, under the direction of Osgood Perkins, starring The Last of Us star. No, it’s not Bella Ramsey but Nico Parker who has joined another young star, Lola Tung, in Perkins’ upcoming project (via THR). So far the filmmaker has delivered hits like Longlegs and The Monkey.
And as for the actresses, Tung has starred in Prime Video’s teen drama The Summer I Turned Pretty, and even showcased her talent on Broadway in Hadestown. And Parker made her way into the film, following her appearances in films like Dumbo and How to Train Your Dragon. So far The Young People is expected to begin this fall in Vancouver.
Osgood Perkins Promised “Bad Trip” With The Young People
Osgood Perkins has been very busy in the last few years. He gave horror fans Longlegs in 2024, a movie that many people now call a modern horror classic. Then earlier this year, he returned with The Monkey, which scared audiences but also had some dark humor. And before the year ends, he will release yet another horror film called Keeper.
Clearly, Perkins has no plans to take a break anytime soon. Meanwhile, he is already moving forward with his next project called The Young People. For now, the story is a mystery, but that is part of the excitement. After all, fans know Perkins loves building suspense and surprises, so it makes sense that details are being kept secret.
But NEON did drop a clue on social media. Sharing a photo of the script on X, the caption promised audiences a “bad trip” from Oz Perkins, hinting at a creepy and unsettling story. Plus, fans also noticed that the script mentioned “The Old Ones” in robes, sparking theories online.

Could they be vampires, or a cult, or maybe a nod to H.P. Lovecraft’s strange creatures? No one knows yet, but it’s safe to say Perkins is planning something chilling. So far, it has been revealed that Perkins has written the script for The Young People and will co-produce it with Chris Ferguson and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.
Our Opinion On Osgood Perkins’ The Young People
Meanwhile, the question that remains is, can Osgood Perkins keep his winning streak going? So far, he has delivered strong and memorable horror films. And after Keeper, starring Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland, arrives in November, The Young People will give audiences another chance to judge Perkins’ current form.

Although there’s no denying that, compared to some of the other horror movies released this year, like Sinners or Weapons, which transformed the horror genre, Perkins’ projects aren’t reaching the levels of acclaim. However, what makes him special is his ability to release multiple good horror projects in such a short time.
Horror is a tough genre where many directors fail, but Oz Perkins has been consistent. His stories always manage to mix fear with mystery in a unique way. So, with The Young People, bringing two fresh faces like Lola Tung and Nico Parker, we believe Perkins might be able to continue his winning streak.
At this point, Perkins is carving his place as a must-watch name in modern horror.
Let us know what your expectations are from Osgood Perkins’ The Young People.
