A new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been released, spotlighting the debut of Yoshi and a new release date that is two days earlier than previously announced.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be released in United States theaters this spring. Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie is based on the popular Super Mario Galaxy video game that was released by Nintendo in 2007.

What do we see in the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer?

The new Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer offers some new footage of the iconic character, voiced by Chris Pratt, exploring different worlds. It also gives our first look at Yoshi, who was teased in the post-credit scene of the first movie.

In addition to Pratt, the voice cast of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie also includes Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Brie Larson as Rosalina, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. The screenplay comes from Matthew Fogel, while Chris Meledandri produces the movie for Illumination, and Shigeru Miyamoto produces for Nintendo. Brian Tyler returns to compose the score.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a massive box office hit, as it made approximately $1.36 billion worldwide. This allowed it to become the first-ever film based on a video game to gross over a billion dollars, which then obviously makes it the highest-grossing film based on a video game of all-time. It was also the third-highest-grossing animated film ever for a time — it now sits in sixth place behind 2025’s Ne Zha 2, 2025’s Zootopia 2, 2024’s Inside Out 2, 2019’s The Lion King, and 2019’s Frozen II —and is currently the 19th highest-grossing movie ever (not adjusted for inflation).
