There may be some hope for this The Mandalorian and Grogu movie after all, following the release of a new trailer.

Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will release The Mandalorian and Grogu in United States theaters next month. A continuation of the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian, the film will see Pedro Pascal reprise role as Din Djarin, while Sigourney Weaver also stars and Jeremy Allen White voices Rotta the Hutt, who is the son of Jabba the Hutt. Tickets for The Mandalorian and Grogu are now on sale.

The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer review

Up until this point, the previous trailers (and the whole marketing campaign, really) for The Mandalorian and Grogu have done little to nothing for me. I have to admit, I’m maybe not quite as high on the Disney+ show as some other people are. I think the first season has some fun episodes and moments, but it started to lose me during Season 2 when everything new the show had to offer was either lore I didn’t care about or cameos/Easter eggs/references to other Star Wars stuff. By the time we were midway through Season 3, I was almost completely checked out.

So, maybe it’s not a huge surprise that someone who wouldn’t call themselves more than a casual Star Wars fan wasn’t super excited about The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The latest trailer that was released at CinemaCon, though, has me thinking that this movie could ultimately be a better time at the theater than I was initially thinking. That’s because this trailer captures something that none of the previous ones have been able to do: A tone that actually looks fun. Up until now, The Mandalorian and Grogu has really just been trying to sell you on the idea that it’ll be so cool to see Baby Yoda on the big screen. Sure, maybe, I guess it will be, but, like, Baby Yoda has been EVERYWHERE since the character first debuted. If that’s all you’ve got for me with this movie, Lucasfilm, I think I might be good.

Here, though, while there’s still a whole lot about the plot we don’t know, we get a better sense of what the action scenes will feel like, and just more of an idea of what we’ll see in the movie besides Grogu looking cute and making baby noises. Yeah, some of these bits actually look pretty fun and exciting, now, and I’m feeling more eager to see this than I was before!

Of course, I’m still *cautiously* eager at this time, but Jon Favreau’s typically a pretty good director. They got Martin Scorsese to voice a character in here. Maybe this won’t be so bad.

The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives on May 22, 2026, from Disney.
