The Beast in Me premiered its first season on Netflix on November 13, 2025, with an ending so intriguing and cliffhanging that it has left the viewers questioning all along. The ending reveals that Nina (Brittany Snow) exposes Nile’s (Matthew Rhys) murders through a recording, leading to his arrest and his mysterious death in prison. Aggie (Claire Danes) is cleared, but the final scene focuses on Nina’s fear that her newborn child has inherited Nile’s sociopathic darkness.
This isn’t enough to explain the conclusion, as the wide-eyed fans are seeking what’s coming next. Before that, a few cliffhangers apart from the ending itself need to be addressed.
1. How Far Will Aggie Go After Nile’s Death?

Aggie publishes her book, The Beast in Me, where she finally accepts herself and acknowledges the dark side that Nile left behind in her subconscious. Even the showrunner, Howard Gordon, said (via Time),
It really is about a squaring with herself, a narrative that she’s told herself and the price of that, which she again says in her own book, confessionally, I’ll have to live with the fact that I have now been part of taking a son from another mother.
Her final scene shows her closing the drawer on her meticulously kept ‘Jarvis Legacy’ file, suggesting she is choosing peace, but the option to reopen the investigation once again exists.
2. Will Shelley Stay or Walk Away Forever?

Aggie’s ex-wife and an abstract painter, Shelley (Natalie Morales), has a fractured relationship with Aggie throughout the season. It is due to their different ways of grieving their son’s death and Aggie’s obsession with Nile.
In the finale scene, Shelley is present at Aggie’s book launch with a new partner. While they seem to have separated peacefully, Season 2 could explore their supportive yet detached relationship as our protagonist takes on a new challenge.
3. Could Nina Return With a Bigger Arc?
Nina’s arc concluded the best. Her brave move of recording Nile’s confession saves Aggie and gets the villain arrested. She was last seen with her newborn baby. She seems to be consumed by the fear that her child may have inherited Nile’s ‘Beast’ nature.
For the future plotline, a probable arc would focus on Nina’s psychological struggle, years later, as she stresses over her child’s life.
4. What Truly Happened Between Aggie and Her Father?

Aggie is an author who first found fame with a book centered on her troubled relationship with her father, who is described as a swindler. Gordon talked to TV Insider, saying,
As long as Aggie is still roaming the planet and is a writer, I think there probably is a story there.
This suggests a potential Season 2 mystery where Aggie is pulled into a conflict involving her father’s criminal past.
5. What New Crime Could Pull Aggie Back In?

With Nile dead and the Jarvis family’s influence loosened, the original crime is solved. The most likely new ‘crime’ could be the mystery of Aggie’s father, or a new case connected to the vast and corrupted Jarvis real estate empire still controlled by Uncle Rick’s fixers.
