The 6 Most Toxic Couples in One Piece History, Officially Ranked
Spread the love

Some of the One Piece ships in the series are unfathomably toxic, so much so that you might not even wish your worst enemy to fall into such tragedies. Now, among the many, here are the 6 most toxic couples in One Piece, ranked by how insufferable they are. But one thing to note is that while some of these couples are in official relationships, others are considered legitimate couples by fans. So, let’s get into it.

6. Kaido & Big Mom’s Chemistry Was Purely Built on Past Debt

Kaido and Big Mom weren’t really a conventional romantic couple in the series. But unforeseen circumstances led them to act as one, at least to fans. When Kaido stole the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu from Big Mom during the God Valley Incident, it created a lifelong debt in her eyes. For the most part, they served as opponents. So, on the surface, their every interaction feels toxic. There’s always an ulterior motive behind their actions. But honestly, it’s not that significant compared to the top 5 on the list.

5. Boa Hancock’s Crush on Luffy Feels Disgustingly One-Sided

Luffy is such a free spirit that it doesn’t really look like he would ever get into an official relationship in One Piece. Or rather, Eiichiro Oda will never let him be in one. However, fans are still crazy over the Boa x Luffy ship because it feels like it has the most potential. However, that’s not true. It’s pretty one-sided if you think about it. Luffy never even saved her; she simply fell head over heels after he protected her sisters’ slave marks and punched a Celestial Dragon. Yet, Boa Hancock insufferably keeps fantasizing about marrying Luffy. While it is toxic, it’s not as toxic as the others above it.

4. Pudding & Sanji’s Relationship Was Extremely Toxic at First

At the very beginning, Sanji and Charlotte Pudding’s chemistry felt absolutely toxic. After all, we know how Sanji can fall head over heels for someone, so there’s no doubt he wasn’t lying about his feelings. But Pudding had a different goal all along. She was supposed to assassinate Sanji and the Vinsmoke family during their wedding! She deliberately pretended to love Sanji to get her job done. And honestly, that’s extremely toxic. But it still ranks only 4th because Pudding later does develop true feelings for him.

3. Kinderella Completely Faked Her Love for Wapol’s Wealth

The toxicity reaches another level every time there is money involved. Remember the time Wapol was blasted off Drum Island by Luffy and hit rock bottom in his career? But, by a miracle, his Wapometal invention turned him into a wealthy conglomerate. Afterward, just to exploit that money, Kinderella even went as far as marrying Wapol. Even the series creator confirmed that Kinderella only loved Wapol for his money in SBS Volume 108. Therefore, their relationship easily ranks in the top 3 of the list.

2. Judge Vinsmoke Never Considers Sora’s Opinions Seriously

The reason we have put Vinsmoke Judge and Sora in 2nd place on the list is that, despite being literally married, their relationship is extremely toxic. First of all, Judge is not the ideal husband one would expect. He is the complete opposite. Judge is a ruthless monster who was even willing to turn his own children into emotionless super-soldiers. But even when Sora opposed him, he never listened. Still, Sora desperately saved her son from Judge, which ultimately led to her death. This is just painfully sad.

1. Donquixote Doflamingo Essentially Had Viola as His Servant

Out of every One Piece pair, Donquixote Doflamingo and Viola arguably had the most toxic relationship. In fact, Oda himself suggested the two might’ve had a passionate bond in SBS Volume 83. However, maybe it was better if they hadn’t. Viola wouldn’t have had to suffer then. After taking over Dressrosa, Doflamingo only agreed to spare her father on the condition that Viola join the Donquixote Pirates and serve him. So, their entire relationship was built upon coercion and domination, which deserves the #1 spot.

So, how satisfied are you with the entries in the list?

The original One Piece anime is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
