Even though season 3 was billed as the final chapter, Apple TV’s Ted Lasso is returning for a fourth season, and the streamer has unveiled the release window for its flagship IP (via Deadline). Set to debut in the summer of 2026, the streamer further revealed first-look images from season 4, which commenced filming back in July 2025 in Kansas City. According to the official synopsis, the titular figure returns to help shape the second division women’s football team.
Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.
Given how much of a success the first three seasons were, which boast a total Emmy count of 11 wins, it’s reasonable to be excited about the return of one of the streamer’s best shows.

What to Expect from Ted Lasso Season 4
While the details surrounding season 4 of the hit Apple TV show are limited, from the images that have been unveiled by the streamer, it appears Ted and Rebecca will reunite in the premiere of the upcoming season.
Considering season 3 ended Ted’s coaching journey on a near-perfect note, seeing him return to his son after guiding AFC Richmond to their most successful season, it remains to be seen how the show will justify his return. It is also important to note that the show was always envisioned as a three-season arc, which explains how tightly-knit the story ultimately was. Jason Sudeikis told Deadline:
This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.
Hopefully, season 4 will be able to replicate the magic of the first three seasons. Moreover, there’s a non-zero chance of the show’s crossover with another major Apple TV outing, Shrinking, whose third season just premiered to glowing reviews.
Ted Lasso and Shrinking Could Cross Paths Down the Line
Being Bill Lawrence-driven shows, at their core, Ted Lasso and Shrinking do share some DNA, and it’s easy to see why these worlds would mesh exceptionally well if Apple entertains the prospect of a crossover in the future.

Although neither showrunner nor Apple has weighed in on the possibility, Shrinking star Lukita Maxwell feels her character, Alice, could easily jump ship to Ted Lasso following her prowess when it comes to soccer. Maxwell’s Shrinking costar, Michael Urie, also chimed in on the idea of Alice making it to the field, adding (via CBR):
Well, I think Lukita Maxwell’s character certainly could play football for [Lasso]. That’s kind of the easiest one. Alice goes to play for AFC or whatever, but, but that’s a thing I really love. I’ve thought about this before, because obviously we have some of the same creators, yes, and the same streaming service. And I think I always think of myself. I, like, if I ended up working with or for Hannah Waddingham’s character, then sparks would fly. I think that would be [fun].
With Shrinking also getting a season 4 renewal from Apple, it won’t be far-fetched to assume that the streamer would attempt to bank on this possibility if Bill Lawrence is on board with the idea of a crossover.
