Actor Scott Eastwood has thrown his name into the hat for the highly sought-after role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in James Gunn’s DC Universe.

At only 38 years old, Eastwood has amassed quite the filmography, appearing in everything from horror (Texas Chainsaw 3D) and sci-fi fare (Pacific Rim Uprising) to blockbusters (Fast & Furious) and biopics (The Perfect Wave). He has even appeared in a couple of movies directed by his father, Clint Eastwood (Gran Torino and Invictus). However, despite a supporting role in the DC Extended Universe movie Suicide Squad, the actor has never portrayed a superhero on the big screen.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Eastwood was asked if there were any DC roles he’d want to audition for in the DCU.

“I mean, I think out of the DC universe, I’m definitely a Batman guy. I’m definitely a Batman guy,” he shared. “I think he’s the most interesting character because he is living double lives that are kind of a little bit more intriguing to me than some of the other ones. Yeah, I don’t know. There’s something cool about that character.”

Who did Scott Eastwood play in Suicide Squad?

Eastwood’s desire to play Batman comes roughly nine years after the DC fandom theorized that his Suicide Squad character, GQ Edwards, who was created for the 2016 movie, was secretly Dick Grayson/Nightwing. Screen Rant asked Eastwood if he had ever heard of the popular theory that he was actually Batman’s most famous protégé.

“I know that there was talk about making me into another character and coming back. It just . . . David Ayer didn’t direct that next film then,” he revealed. “I was like, ‘Look, let’s just see. Let’s see what the next thing holds. Is it a cool character? Who is it?’ And that never came around because he didn’t direct the film, so it was a different movie.”

Unfortunately, even Eastwood doesn’t know who Warner Bros. and DC Films might have wanted him to play in a future DCEU movie, revealing that “they didn’t know. They were just talking about who he could come back as, and we could make him somebody and this and that, and they hadn’t really landed on any of that.”

DCEU fans can revisit Suicide Squad on Max.
