Written by The Stranger Things finale moved 18 months in the future following the battle with Vecna, giving us closure for many of the Hawkins crew. However, one major character was left out by the Duffer Brothers during the festivities: Vickie.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Robin’s love interest, Vickie, was noticeably absent during the time-skip, and the Duffer Brothers’ Ross has left this as an open interpretation for the audience as to whether Robin and Vickie are still together:
We do that flash-forward in Mike’s story and we bring them up to a certain point, and then we want to leave it a little bit up to fans in terms of where these characters end up ultimately.
The Duffer Brothers, of course, deliberated over the course of natural events in a high school romance, but they seemed to reach a dilemma.

Robin and Vickie shared a powerful bond during the final season of Stranger Things, saving each other and showing a lot of concern when needed. Ross Duffer, in the interview with Entertainment Weekly, continued to state:
Do Robin and Vickie stay together? Maybe, maybe not.
High school romances that turn into long-term relationships are rare, but this is fiction, and we can let our imaginations run wild if we choose. Matt Ross seems to be on the negative side of the spectrum:
From my point of view and from everyone I knew in high school, what percentage of couples remain together after they leave for college? Extremely low. Max and Lucas survive because their love is that deep, but very few others do.
Ouch. This might break the hearts of fans to hear, but Matt ends the statement with a consensus that the Duffer Brothers came to together.
You never know.
Robin and Vickie were the first LGBTQ+ couple in the show that showed queer people from back in the day. Robin had a big crush on Vickie throughout the fourth season of Stranger Things, leading to their relationship blossoming.

The relationship didn’t blossom for a while, as Robin started to get a one-sided crush on Vickie from the same High School band. In Hawkins 1986, it was evident that Robin wanted to be with Vickie from their shared interests, joking in class, and background band‑room interactions.
One of the most memorable moments of S4 came when Robin came out to Steve and shared her fear that Vickie was straight. Late in S4, there are subtle cues that Vickie might’ve been into Robin, and the season ends with Robin still pining for Vickie.
Jumping to the final season, we see Robin and Vickie in a relationship during a ravaged Hawkins. This marked Stranger Things’ first full lesbian couple in the show, but we don’t get to see how it happened. Here are key details of the final season.

Throughout Season 5, Robin is an unavailable partner who makes Vickie anxious and eventually assumes she’s on drugs. Needless to say, Robin proves why her absence was crucial to saving the world, and they embark on their quest to destroy Vecna.
Post-battle, we don’t see Robin with Vickie, so are we to assume that they didn’t end up together 18 months later? Let us know in the comments.
