A behind-the-scenes photo taken from the set of Star Wars: Starfighter has been released.

Star Wars: Starfighter is the upcoming Lucasfilm movie that comes from Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy. Starring The Fall Guy’s Ryan Gosling, the project currently has a 2027 release date.

Star Wars: Starfighter has now officially started production in the United Kingdom, and the official Star Wars Twitter account has shared a behind-the-scenes photo taken from the set. It shows the first look at the characters played by Gosling and his co-star, Flynn Gray.

The cast also includes Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Mia Goth (Pearl), Aaron Pierre (Lanterns), Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners), Jamael Westman (The Essex Serpent), Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen), and Amy Adams (Man of Steel), the latter of whom will play Gray’s character’s mother, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Levy said in a statement, “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”

Levy produces the film alongside Kennedy, while the script comes from Jonathan Tropper. Gosling, Dan Levine, Mary McLaglen, and Josh McLaglen serve as executive producers on the movie. 

Star Wars: Starfighter is set approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The new movie currently has a May 28, 2027, release date.
