Spider-Man: Brand New Day has shattered yet another box office record by surpassing Star Wars. The film was released on July 31, 2026, and is currently reigning as the highest-grossing movie of the year with a worldwide collection of just over $2 billion.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day achieved another box office milestone as it became the fastest film to cross the $800 million mark in box office collection. The 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens was holding the record till today. The feat was achieved by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 23 days. To topple that record, the Tom Holland-led movie managed to secure $800 million in 19 days, per Deadline.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the fourth movie ever to cross the $800 million mark. How many box office records did Spider-Man: Brand New Day actually break?
In the opening weekend itself, Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned 45.3% of its total gross, which amounts to $360 million. Such a number in the opening weekend made Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man 4 the film to have the biggest domestic opening weekend in history. The film beat Avengers: Endgame, which held the record with $357.1 million.
Adding to this, it snatched another record from Avengers: Endgame. The 2019 film held the record of earning $60 million from previews. Spider-Man: Brand New Day broke it by earning $74.5 million from preview screenings on its opening night. The 145-minute film also created a record for having the highest-grossing Monday and Tuesday by beating Black Panther and Spider-Man: Far From Home, respectively.
