As of Sunday, July 26, 2026, the highly acclaimed shonen manga Kagurabachi is sitting in the 7th position of the official “Hottest” manga ranking by Shueisha on Manga Plus. The manga series was last seen at the 5th spot on June 28, 2026, but then it began to fall gradually. Currently, here are the top 10 ranked manga titles on the website (via Manga Plus):

While there is a drastic difference in scores between #8 Ichi the Witch and #7 Kagurabachi, Sakamoto Days at #6 slightly edges it out in numbers. What’s so heartbreaking about this is that just a few months ago, Takeru Hokazono’s manga was even in the top two on the website’s rankings (via Reddit):

The short answer is timing, and honestly, pretty brutal timing at that. For the past few months, the series had been a fixture in the top five of Manga Plus’s “Hottest” chart, riding the kind of momentum most new-generation shonen series only dream about.
On June 16, 2026, the series’ official account confirmed what some fans had already started bracing for: Takeru Hokazono’s manga was heading into a hiatus (via X). The break was set to begin with Weekly Shonen Jump’s Issue 31, which hit newsstands in Japan on June 29, and Shueisha said the series would return sometime in August, without pinning down an exact date. The publisher framed it as a joint call between the editorial team and Hokazono himself, aimed at protecting the series’ long-term health rather than burning the author out, especially after an earlier unplanned break tied to Hokazono’s illness.
And that’s really the whole story behind the ranking dip. Manga Plus’s Hottest chart runs on recency and reader activity, so once new chapters stop landing, the drop-off is basically guaranteed. The moment Issue 31 released without a new chapter, Hunter x Hunter slid into the #5 spot Kagurabachi had been holding onto, and Sakamoto Days wasn’t far behind, eventually pushing Hokazono’s series down even further as the weeks without new content stacked up.
None of this is really a reflection on the story losing its grip on readers. It’s just what happens when a series goes quiet while its neighbors on the chart keep dropping chapters every single week.
