The forthcoming Prime Video TV show Sex Criminals has found its two leads.
Sex Criminals is an Image Comics series written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Chip Zdarsky. The series launched in 2013 and concluded in 2020, running for 31 issues and one special.
In January 2026, it was announced that Emily V. Gordon, Kumail Nanjiani, and Tze Chun were turning Sex Criminals into a TV show for Prime Video. LuckyChap and Amazon MGM Studios are involved with the project.
Who has been cast in Prime Video’s Sex Criminals show?
Per Deadline, it’s now been announced that the Sex Criminals show will star Imogen Poots and John Reynolds. Poots will play Suze, while Reynolds will play Jon. Nanjiani is also expected to appear in the series, though it’s unclear who he’s playing.
A description of the comic’s plot reads, “Suzie’s a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night, she meets Jon…who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex-having, time-stopping, couple would do: they rob banks.”
Poots is known for playing Autumn in the Outer Range and the lead character in the 2019 remake of Black Christmas. Having recently starred in Kristen Stewart’s The Chronology of Water and Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, Poots’ filmography also includes 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, 2011’s Fright Night, 2014’s That Awkward Moment, 2015’s Green Room, 2016’s Poster: Never Stop Never Stopping, 2019’s The Art of Self-Defense, and more.
Reynolds, meanwhile, played Officer Callahan on Stranger Things, Detective Matt Siracusa on the second season of Yellowjackets, and Andrew “Drew” Gardner on Search Party. He has been in movies such as 2018’s Most Likely to Murder, 2020’s Save Yourselves!, 2020’s Horse Girl, 2023’s Genie, and 2025’s Oh, Hi!
A premiere date for Sex Criminals has not yet been announced.
