With Sadie Sink now all but confirmed to be playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, new details about the X-Men character’s imminent Marvel Cinematic Universe debut have been shared.
Ever since Sink joined Spider-Man: Brand New Day in March 2025, there has been speculation that she would be playing Jean Grey. While Marvel Studios hasn’t actually confirmed who she will be playing, multiple scoopers, as well as Jeff Sneider, have all but confirmed that she will be playing the X-Men mutant in Brand New Day.
What are the new details for Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey?
While Sink’s Jean Grey was kept largely hidden in the first Brand New Day trailer, scooper Cryptic HD QUALITY recently shared what fans can expect to see with the character in the superhero movie.
“Jean gets the First Steps Sue treatment. Unlike previous Jean Greys, her powers have some new visual flair to them. More VFX are involved, and it’s said to resemble her X-97 counterpart,” the scooper stated on X.

After a fan expressed disappointment over the scooper’s “resemble her X-97 counterpart” comment, believing that it meant that Jean’s powers would be shown as blue and not pink, Cryptic HD QUALITY clarified, “Well actually, I was not told what the color would be, so it could very well be pink.”

Cryptic HD QUALITY also hinted that Sink’s Jean Grey may be “time displaced,” as “that’s how she was also described to me.” In the comics, the five original X-Men were sent from the past to the present Marvel Comics timeline as part of a storyline that lasted from 2012 through 2018.

It’s unclear if by “time displaced,” Cryptic means that Jean Grey is from the past (or possibly future), although since the MCU is still in its Multiverse Saga, she could have been sent from an alternate universe. As always, fans should take any rumors with a grain of salt until officially confirmed by either Marvel Studios, Sony, or the movie itself.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up four years after the events of 2021’s No Way Home, which ended with the universe forgetting who Peter Parker was, allowing for the MCU to bring Holland’s Spider-Man closer to his comic book counterpart.
Brand New Day will feature several fan-favorite characters, including Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. The latter reportedly has a close relationship with Jean Grey, protecting her from Damage Control.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
