A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Ngbar Benard, has petitioned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) accusing a lawyer, Ibezimako Ude, of unsolicited conditional appearance.
Bernard in a letter dated May 10 and addressed to the President of NBA alleged that Ude prepared a memorandum of appearance purportedly as a conditional appearance in a suit number PHC/1512/CS 2024 before the state High Court in Port Harcourt Division.
He said the matter was between Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo & 2 others and Hon. Martins Amaewhule & 24 others and the Governor & 2 others.
He said: “The action of the lawyer came to me as a huge shock and has caused some damages to me. I have never met and do not know who Ibezimakor Ude is.
“Moreso, Ibezimakor Ude is not my counsel and I never engaged him to enter a conditional appearance for me in the suit mentioned above or any other suit whatsoever”.
The lawmaker urged the NBA to institute a disciplinary measure against the lawyer to forestall future occurrence.
