After Danity Kane was formed on MTV’s controversial Making the Band 3, they signed with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. The rapper acted as their mentor, and a video from the past has resurfaced, showing the extent of his “honesty” with the girls. From criticizing Shannon Bex’s hair color to commenting on Aundrea Fimbres’ body, Diddy went all in, no holds barred.

In the episode of Making the Band where Sean “Diddy” Combs was providing the girls with a deep analysis, he started off by pointing out how Bex’s red-colored hair made her look older than she is. In his words, “I hate it…it puts age on you, unnecessary age, a very beautiful girl.“
He then pulled up a couple of Fimbres’ photos, pointing out how she looked, “Pleasantly plump” in them, while not really in real life. He also criticized her and other members for their fake hair, fake eyelashes, and over-the-top makeup.

Danity Kane was active from 2005-09, 2013-14, and 2018-20. On March 19, 2020, the band released its third single as a duo, New Kings. Since then, they have been on an indefinite hiatus, and no one knows if the girls will be back for a reunion one more time.
Danity Kane Member Opened up About Diddy’s Abuse and Criticism
Ever since Diddy’s alleged actions came to light, Danity Kane members have been quite vocal about the experiences they apparently endured under his mentorship.
In a recently released docuseries, Investigation Discovery’s The Fall of Diddy, D. Woods got candid on camera, stating (reported via USA Today),
Hearing some of those songs brings up awful memories. I see myself standing in those dark, scary, predatory spaces and hearing somebody say some of the most degrading things to me.
Woods also claimed that Combs was verbally abusive towards her and the other band members throughout their career. He would allegedly criticize their looks, and they could do nothing except take it in silence. She added, “I called it Jedi mind tricks. I had to take it, grit my teeth and let him say what he wanted to say.”
Not only would Combs allegedly make comments on physical appearances, but Woods stated that he would send Aubrey O’Day “inappropriate” photos of himself, which included “overtly p*rn*graphic” material.
Woods also claimed that when O’Day ran into Combs at the New York Fashion Week in 2008, he told her that she was now “hot enough” to get intimate with him. O’Day was worried about the victims’ safety after the verdict in Combs’ trial.

Back in September 2024, Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard filed a lawsuit against her former mentor for s*xual assault and battery. As per the lawsuit (via NPR), Combs allegedly assaulted her s*xually, deprived her of food and sleep, and even refused to pay her appropriately.
Richard also backed Cassie Ventura‘s claims of domestic violence in the lawsuit and stated that she saw Combs and his associates performing s*xual acts with underage girls under the influence of illegal drugs.

The complaint further stated that Combs would often use derogatory remarks towards the female contestants on Making the Band, including “fat”, “ugly”, and “b*tch.” Furthermore, Richard added that she and other members of Danity Kane were forced to rehearse for up to 48 hours without food/rest.
As for Combs’ response to the lawsuit, his attorney, Erica Wolff, released a statement stating that the rapper is “shocked and disappointed by this lawsuit” and that Richard was simply looking for a payday by fabricating claims against him. She added that the lawsuit was “conveniently timed to coincide with her album release and press tour.”
At the moment, Combs is spending his days at the Metropolitan Detention Center, awaiting sentencing, after the court denied him bail. His sentencing will take place on October 03.
