Chapter 1193 of One Piece shifts the spotlight from Luffy’s exhausting battle with Imu to Zoro’s increasingly dangerous fight against Saint Sommers. While Luffy finally manages to hurt Imu in the previous chapter, Zoro delivers Chapter 1193’s biggest surprise by nearly striking Sommers’ heart while “practicing” how to use Conqueror’s Haki.
The ending does not confirm a completely new Zoro form, but it strongly suggests that the Straw Hats’ swordsman still has plenty of room to grow. With the Final Saga pushing the Straw Hats against some of their strongest enemies yet, Zoro’s latest breakthrough could be setting up something much bigger.
Zoro’s Fight With Sommers Teases a Conqueror’s Haki Upgrade
One Piece Chapter 1193, titled “Still Practicing,” puts Zoro’s battle with Sommers at the center. The Holy Knight traps Zoro inside a mass of invisible thorns and confidently believes the swordsman has no way out. Instead of panicking, however, Zoro starts thinking about the one thing that could help him defeat Sommers: Supreme King Haki.

This is where the chapter becomes especially interesting. Zoro has already awakened Conqueror’s Haki in Wano and learned to coat his attacks with it, eventually developing his King of Hell fighting style. That made him powerful enough to defeat King, but Chapter 1193 of One Piece suggests that Zoro’s understanding of Supreme King Haki may still be developing.
When Sommers launches his attack, Zoro suddenly cuts through the thorns surrounding him. He then rushes forward and stabs Sommers, coming dangerously close to his heart. The attack leaves the normally confident Holy Knight visibly terrified.
The best part is Zoro’s reaction. Rather than celebrating, he treats the attack as a failed attempt and casually says, “Sorry about that, I’m still practicing.” That line explains why the chapter’s title is so fitting.
It also makes the moment more exciting than a simple power-up reveal. Zoro may not have fully unlocked a new form yet, but Oda appears to be showing that he is actively learning how to push his Conqueror’s Haki further. If this is only practice, his eventual perfected technique could become one of Zoro’s biggest upgrades of the Final Saga.

While Zoro steals the ending, the rest of One Piece Chapter 1193 quietly prepares several important developments. Luffy’s battle with Imu takes a major turn when the Straw Hat finally runs out of energy after pushing Gear 5 so hard. This comes immediately after the ending of One Piece Chapter 1192, where Dawn Thor Bullet broke through Imu’s Shield of Emptiness and proved that the World Government’s hidden ruler can actually be hurt.

With Luffy temporarily out of the fight, Loki’s upcoming transformation becomes even more important. The chapter teases his hybrid form but only shows its silhouette, keeping the actual design hidden for now. That feels deliberate, especially considering Loki’s connection to the legendary Nidhogg Devil Fruit and the enormous role he has played in Elbaf.
Elsewhere, Gunko finally wakes up, creating another loose thread around the Holy Knights and Imu. Her next move could become particularly important now that the battle across Elbaf is becoming increasingly chaotic.
The chapter also returns to the Owl Library, where Biblo has something special to show Robin, Chopper, and the others. Considering Elbaf’s deep connection to the Void Century and its preserved knowledge, this subplot could eventually reveal another important piece of the world’s hidden history. Sanji’s ongoing battle with Killingham adds another layer to the growing conflict.
Ultimately, One Piece Chapter 1193 feels less like a chapter that resolves the current battles and more like one that moves several major pieces into position. Luffy has reached his limit, Loki is preparing for a major transformation, Gunko is back, and Zoro may be discovering a new level of Conqueror’s Haki.
