The chapter continues Brook’s flashback in the Esperia Kingdom from One Piece Chapter 1185, revealing the tragic chain of events that led to its downfall. Princess Shuri discloses that the World Government never demanded 1,000 slaves as King Reuven had claimed. Instead, their true objective was to take her away.

Before the war can continue any further, Gunko kills King Reuven, effectively bringing the conflict to an end. The chapter also reveals that Gunko’s biological father is the Holy Knight St. Manmayer Gurou, who immediately recognizes Brook from his time in Esperia. Gunko herself possesses the rare Bipolar Iris, a unique trait that the “Great One” desperately desires.
Brook’s nightmare only worsens when Gunko uses his own sword technique, Gavotte Bond en Avant, to stab him through the head before departing alongside Gurou. Although the attack appears fatal, Brook survives after doctors discover the blade narrowly missed his brain stem and major blood vessels.
