Netflix has been constantly expanding its Korean-language content, and its latest project is a kdrama titled Love Affair. Recently, there have been rumors that Tale of the Nine Tailed and Goblin famed star Lee Dong-wook will be joining the show as the lead.
While all details have not been revealed, it is being reported that the actor has been approached for such a role, but his agency is still reviewing the offer (via Naver). If he ends up accepting, the drama might turn out to be one of the most compelling K-dramas given his reach and global fan base.
What is Netflix’s Love Affair About?
Not many details have been revealed about the upcoming Netflix drama, but MyDramaList lists that it has been adapted from the web novel of the same name by Lee Yu-jin. It has been adapted by the screenwriter Haa Soo-jin and directed by Mo Wan-il.

A man feels a fateful attraction to a woman he happens to meet overseas. After spending a single night together, the two reunite through a cruel twist of fate in an unexpected relationship, setting off a turbulent and dramatic course in their lives.
The story follows Kim Ji Hun, a man with a stable career and a happy marriage whose life spirals into ruin when a fatal, traffic-accident-like love suddenly crashes into his world, and Kong Hu Gyeong, an irresistibly charismatic architect who becomes entangled in a passionate love affair with him.
Since Wan-il will be directing the drama, who is known for The World of the Married, many expect it to be quite a passionate melodrama with plenty of s*xual expression.
When Will Love Affair Release on Netflix?

For now, the negotiations between FNC Story, the production house, and Netflix are ongoing for Love Affair’s OTT release. Moreover, only Lee Dong-wook has been reported to be in the casting process, with no other actors announced. Hence, there has been no release date for the drama yet (via Naver).
However, if things happen on time, we can expect the drama to be released by early next year or by the end of next year.
Currently, casting is underway for the female lead, and the production is seeking an actress in her early to mid-thirties. If the Tale of the Nine Tailed star accepts the offer, this will be the first time that he will be starring in a spicy, adult melodrama, which is expected to be on the explicit edge.
Unlike typical romantic K-dramas revolving around predictable meet-cute tropes, the upcoming drama is more focused on fateful attraction, unexpected reunions, and upheavals.
