MSI showcased its Meg X gaming monitor at CES 2026, and the features it brings are both impressive and troublesome for the gaming tech world. For instance, the monitor has the innate ability to subdue flashes, zooms in automatically, and even highlights enemies for your ease.
For those who play competitive shooter games, it’s easy to say these features are technically legal hacks and gives unfair advantage. If everyone has to be on the same level, then every gamer must own this monitor, or else they won’t be on par with others.

The MSI Meg X is impressive on its own with its sleek design, 360Hz refresh-rate and even 34 inch QD-OLED screen. With hardware like that, gamers can expect top-tier visuals at an unprecedented wide-angle (3440 x 1440) view. Furthermore, the response time is as low as 0.03 millisecond which is further impressive.
However, it’s not the hardware-level features that make the MSI Meg X special, because it’s the AI feature that they bring around. Features like AI Tracker, AI Scope, and AI Goggle stand out the most. While the rest of the AI tools may not affect competitive integrity, these three absolutely could.
To get started with the AI Tracker can highlight enemies even without having any support for the game. Let’s say you’re playing a game with dim lighting, and enemies are hard to spot; the feature will make sure the target is prominent.
Next up on the line is AI Scope, which can automatically zoom in on enemies to give you a clearer shot. It won’t automatically shoot for you, but more than half the work is done for you.
And the icing on the cake is AI Goggle, which automatically dims the screen if something super bright is on. So, if an enemy throws a flashbang, it would happen, but you won’t be affected as much.
With features like that, MSI Meg X has to be a monitor that sounds cool, but would be unfair for others once it makes it into the market. At the moment, MSI hasn’t revealed a release date or the price tag, but it’s expected to arrive in Q1 2026 or early Q2 2026 (via TFTCentral).

Esports games are created with hard rules and created in a way to maintain competitive integrity. Whatever is happening on your end will remain the same for others. However, the MSI Meg X is making an exception to their list by introducing features that negate the rules of a game.
In a way, the monitor is enabling cheating for anyone who buys it. The unfair edge it gives players feels like legalized cheating, while everyone on regular monitors is left at a clear disadvantage.
If the monitor is indeed released to the masses, then it has to be banned from Esports altogether. Else the features are breaking the rules of a competitive game, and others are left for the dead.
Well, MSI did recommend players to use this feature for practice or single-player games, but don’t think anyone would listen.
