Robert Downey Jr.’s highly anticipated debut as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday has received another rumor, teasing new details about his storyline. The film premieres in theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
Who are the potential members of Doctor Doom’s Avengers: Doomsday team?
The latest Doomsday rumor comes from Muzahid Mateen on X, who claims that Doctor Doom will have a team of his own in the next Avengers movie. The rumored team, called “Harbingers of Doom,” will reportedly feature several Marvel villains, including Captain Hydra, Maestro Hulk, King Thanos, and various Doctor Doom variants. In response to the rumor, The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez seemingly confirmed the team’s existence in Avengers: Doomsday by debunking the team name.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Stephen McFeely writing the screenplay. The latest installment will feature the return of Avengers vets Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans. The ensemble cast will also include Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Lewis Pullman, Simu Liu, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Danny Ramirez.
The fifth Avengers installment will also feature the return of X-Men stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Recent casting rumors suggested that Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Peggy Carter, and Spider-Man might also appear in Doomsday.
