You don’t have to lie to us; we know you love Henry Cavill. Since then, he went on to star in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, flaunting his red cape and the blue suit; his skills pierced through our souls as he made a place right at the center of our hearts. Meanwhile, another such actor whom we love to talk about is Tom Cruise, who recently bid farewell to his long-running spy franchise, Mission: Impossible.

While the Edge of Tomorrow actor may have visited his infamous role of Ethan Hunt for the very final shot, we think Cavill would be a perfect actor to fill in the shoes.

The Sherlock Holmes star has enough talent to take over the franchise, not only because of his acting skills but also for various other reasons. What are they? Let’s read them below.

1. Henry Cavill has already tasted Mission: Impossible adventure

Those who have been following the Mission: Impossible franchise dedicatedly will instantly recognise Cavill’s villainous stint. He was seen in Mission: Impossible–Fallout. Released in 2018, the movie is the sixth entry, following Ethan Hunt and his IMF team. The movie, which serves as a direct sequel to Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, stars Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, as well as Michelle Monaghan, alongside Cavill’s August Walker.

However, it should be noted that the character he played in Fallout was killed at the end, and Cavill taking on the role would be a whole new start, maybe a reboot of the franchise.

With his experience in the never-resting world of Mission: Impossible, the directors may see Cavill as their next agent.

2. Experience of playing spy before

The acting skills of Henry Cavill extend beyond imagination. While we have seen him fly in the air, being August Walker, he has portrayed some very intriguing roles. Moreover, he has played the character of a spy in various outings. You can catch him in action in the latest film Argylle, released in 2024, alongside the gorgeous Dua Lipa, as well as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which came out in the same year.

He was also seen as an agent in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. However, if you would like to explore his detective skills, you can always turn to Enola Holmes, the Millie Bobby Brown-starring entry that also features Cavill as Sherlock Holmes. We would also recommend watching The Cold Light of Day, a movie starring Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver.

3. An unmatchable acting range

We have discussed his spy roles and superhero roles, but his acting skills continue to expand with each movie. The star has even played a warrior in the Greek tale, Immortals. Cavill was seen playing Theseus alongside Freida Pinto and Luke Evans. Besides this, his true fans also worship him for his portrayal of Geralt in The Witcher. Meanwhile, you can even catch him being Captain Syverson, alongside Glen Powell and Nicholas Hoult in Sand Castle. Oh, and did we almost forget he was also the Wolverine in the MCU?

This proves that he would be able to portray various emotions if he were chosen to play the lead in Mission: Impossible.

4. Henry Cavill performs his own stunts

Henry Cavill is known to thrash the stereotypical acting methods and embrace adrenaline rush. The actor has performed several of his own stunts.  As per ABC News, Cavill performed almost every stunt in Mission: Impossible– Fallout. Making an appearance on Good Morning America, he revealed that he was heartbroken after the Cruise did not let him do the HALO jump, which was on his bucket list.

Those who are very familiar with the Mission: Impossible outings may know that Tom Cruise also does his own stunts in the movie. So, to have another actor who is not scared to push boundaries and climb the tallest building is a must for the franchise.

5. He has a great fan following

Henry Cavill is not only praised for his acting skills, but his fans also love him for the dedication he has shown towards his roles. Many males are known to follow Cavill’s gym routine. The way he built himself for the role of Superman had everyone impressed, eventually watching him sweat on the iron bars. Not only that, but the actor is also a geek as well as a gamer.

Back in the pandemic, when everyone was locked in their houses, the Superman actor built a gaming PC. In his YouTube video, he was heard talking about his gaming stories and getting a call from Zack Snyder while playing World of Warcraft.

If he eventually takes up the role of a new Ethan Hunt, his movies will be watched not only by those who love his acting and the followers of Mission: Impossible, but also by the gym rats and gamers.

6. Henry Cavill brings in utter physical intensity

We don’t need to tell you much about this; it can be sensed in the way Cavill is buffed up. Moreover, it’s not just the gym routine he follows meticulously, but also the power he portrays on screen.

He was a sheer force in Mission: Impossible –Fallout, who gave a tough time to Cruise’s Hunt. The way he is jacked up and the way he shook his hands right before the fight sequence that takes place in the bathroom would make anyone in front of him worried about his life.

7. Experienced hand-to-hand combatant

Besides using weapons of mass destruction in Mission: Impossible–Fallout, he was also seen fighting bare-knuckled. Not only that, but the Guy Ritchie film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare also had many sequences that showed him portraying great fighting skills without even using a knife.

However, if you wish to see him in a hand-to-hand combat, you should surely watch Immortals.

8. Henry Cavill can portray a strategist

To play the lead of Mission: Impossible, one not only needs to be fast, powerful, and know how to shoot, but also someone who can make plans to take down villains. The actor should also know how to play someone who can escape swiftly without getting caught by the FBI or Interpol, even though you are on their side.

This is something which Cavill already portrayed in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, as well as The Man from U.N.C.L.E., a movie that one teased to get a sequel.

9. He is young and can carry the franchise for a long time

Tom Cruise spent years on the Mission: Impossible franchise being the Ethan Hunt we all loved. He first appeared as the agent in the year 1996, when he was just 34. Right now, Henry Cavill is 42 years old. While being fit for the role, he even has many years to at least release 4 Mission: Impossible outings before he leaves acting days behind.

10. Henry Cavill has experience starring in action movies

Henry Cavill has been known for his portrayal of action heroes in numerous movies and TV shows. While Man of Steel and The Witcher are some of his most cherished roles, he is set to appear in Warhammer 40,000, Voltron, and Highlander.
