Marvel Studios has reportedly locked an actress for Emma Frost, and many X-Men fans have found the casting positive, while some are uncertain.
A new report from Deadline claims Samara Weaving has landed the role of the White Queen in the upcoming X-Men reboot. The untitled movie is directed by Jake Schreier, marking one of the first confirmed roles of the franchise’s new mutant lineup.
Across the social media, the response has been largely positive. Many believe Weaving has the confidence, screen presence, and attitude for the character.

Why Samara Weaving’s Emma Frost casting continues to divide some X-Men fans
Samara Weaving’s casting as Emma Frost didn’t fully captivate X-Men fans because of comparisons to their own dream casting. Some wanted Hannah Waddingham to play Emma Frost, believing she better matched the overall character’s presence.

Others voted for Lupita Nyong’o as their ideal choice, while a few suggested the long-rumored Margot Robbie as their pick. Some fans backed the casting decision but worried about her addition to Marvel. One fan, @zykkkken, wrote, “On one hand this is an amazing casting, on the other hand KEEP HER AWAY FROM MARVEL.”
Despite those concerns, the overall reactions remained overwhelmingly positive. The news also became even more exciting as it broke the same day Spider-Man: Brand New Day released. X-Men fans agree that the casting success will ultimately depend on the writing and Weaving’s performance.
The Australian actress would be the third to play Emma Frost in the X-Men franchise. January Jones played the White Queen in X-Men: First Class and Tahyna Tozzi in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Marvel is yet to introduce new characters in the upcoming unnamed X-Men reboot.
