Although it’s been rumored for some time, the villain of the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow has been revealed in a new report.
Who is the Man of Tomorrow villain?
According to a new report from TheWrap, Man of Tomorrow’s villain will be none other than Brainiac, the iconic Superman villain. While many fans had assumed this would be the case due to James Gunn teasing the character on the film’s script, TheWrap’s report confirms the villain will indeed be the big bad of the movie.
With the movie also set to feature a temporary alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor, it also tracks that Brainiac would be the foe they have to finally work together to go against. TheWrap’s report also notes that Man of Tomorrow is set to begin production in April, with filming set to start in Atlanta. The movie is set to release in theaters on July 9, 2027.
As of now, little is known about Man of Tomorrow, outside of the fact that it will release on July 9, 2027, and that Corenswet, Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan are all set to return for the movie.
The Man of Tomorrow is one of Superman’s many nicknames; however, there have also been a handful of DC comic runs that have incorporated the ‘Man of Tomorrow’ name into their official title. There was also a 2020 animated movie titled Superman: Man of Tomorrow, but whether or not the DCU movie will be pulling from any of this source material remains unclear at this time.
