A new Lanterns trailer was released earlier this week. After the new look, fans are finally starting to buy into HBO’s upcoming series.
Fans are excited after the latest Lanterns trailer
When the first Lanterns trailer was released, fans were not pleased. The original trailer showed off little of the actual Green Lanterns and left fans immediately worried. This time, though, DC Studios has peeled the curtain just a bit more, and we’re finally getting a look at the superhero vibes of the superhero show.
The new trailer still keeps things mostly close to the chest, but is undoubtedly more “superhero” than anything we’ve gotten before. We’re treated to a more in-depth look at the Green Lanterns’ powers in a brief look at a giant shield being constructed. We’re also treated to some of the more nefarious ways to use the powers as Kyle Chandler‘s Hal Jordan conjures up fake money to pay for at a bar.
Unlike the original trailer, which dealt much more with the relationship between Jordan and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), this trailer highlights the desire for the ring of power the Lanterns wield. In the trailer, Stewart can be heard wondering if he’s truly worthy for the power while Jordan seems more unfazed by these thoughts. This at least shows we’re going to get a ton more in-depth with the lore of the Lanterns than previously thought.
It also looks like we’ll be getting more connected to the DC Universe than previously thought. The trailer shows the inclusion of Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), the Lantern who appeared in James Gunn’s Superman. Just what he’s doing in the show is unknown, but with John Stewart set to play a role in the ongoing DCU, it’s good that HBO is beginning to show us how the world will connect.
Lanterns is set to premiere on August 16, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
