Shaunie Henderson is officially closing the chapter on Basketball Wives. With confirmation that the long-running reality series will not be returning for another season, the creator and executive producer shared a final goodbye to fans.
“This is just called growth and, you know, moving forward,” Henderson said in a video she shared on Instagram, before announcing, “I’m announcing today that Basketball Wives will not be returning.”
The series, which premiered in 2010, began as a look into Henderson’s life as an NBA wife and quickly evolved into a cultural staple that sparked conversations and controversy.
Henderson described the show as a “defining part of my professional journey,” noting that it opened doors, amplified women’s voices, and left a lasting impact on entertainment.
She also expressed gratitude to the networks and production partners who helped sustain the franchise over the years. “I’m so grateful to VH1, Truly Original, Shed Media, and BET for their partnership and belief in a show that left a long-lasting mark,” she shared, adding:
Most importantly, I’m thankful to the women who trusted me with their stories and the creatives in front of and behind the camera who helped bring this vision to life season after season.
