Iran denies Trump’s claim of ceasefire request

Iran has rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that its president requested a ceasefire, as hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran continue.

A senior Iranian official dismissed Trump’s statement that Iran’s “new regime president” had asked for a ceasefire, insisting no such request had been made.

“The Iranians are denying that they’ve asked for any ceasefire,” a report from Tehran confirmed.

Earlier, Trump had said on his Truth Social platform that his administration would only consider a ceasefire once the Strait of Hormuz is “open, free, and clear.”

“Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion,” he said, escalating tensions with strong rhetoric.

The comments came hours before Trump was scheduled to address the American public, where he is expected to provide an update on the ongoing conflict.

The Trump administration has faced increasing pressure over the war, particularly as global energy prices surge and public opposition grows within the United States.

Trump previously suggested that the conflict could end within two to three weeks, adding that fuel prices would drop significantly once the war concludes.

However, his latest remarks have raised doubts about how soon a resolution might be reached.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical concern. The key waterway, which handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, has been effectively disrupted due to the conflict, fueling fears of a global economic slowdown.

Analysts say Trump’s messaging has been mixed, combining optimism about a possible end to the war with aggressive threats.

“This is not exactly encouraging,” one analyst noted, pointing to the scale of destruction already reported, including damage to civilian infrastructure.

Sources in Washington suggest Trump is unlikely to announce an immediate end to the war, but may instead signal that military operations will continue for at least a few more weeks, despite the growing economic and political pressure.
