Ijaw – Wike, we are not weak people, as you think. – A Statement of Grievance and Warning Regarding the Political Crisis in Rivers State Statement Regarding the Political Situation in Rivers State

Spread the love

We, the SEA, are closely observing the current political climate in Rivers State. We are deeply concerned by what we perceive as the harassment and intimidation directed at the Governor of Rivers State, and the disrespectful remarks made by Minister Wike towards the Ijaw ethnic nationality.

In the Niger Delta, we value community and reasoned discourse. When disagreements arise, it is

Ijaw Heritage Television International
We are keenly watching the ongoing political trend which is pure harassment and the intimidation of the Governor of River state. We are listening to the insults, the unguarded utterances and the abuse that is being hipped on the Ijaw ethnic nationality by Minister Wike.
The Niger Delta is a community and when controversies arise in a community, reasonable people don’t jump into wagon to talk.
There is an African adage which says; “Two mad people never behave madly at the same time.” It is a bad omen in the Niger Delta for two mad people to talk at the same time, so some of those that have capacity to talk will avoid talking like Wike for now.
We all must not talk because Hon Wike is talking
However, we are not sleeping, neither are we cowards. But note that we have always won our just battles and this will be no exception. This crass arrogance being displayed by Wike was avoidable, but for former president Goodluck Jonathan and is lovely wife, Patient Jonathan that jettisoned credible candidates and imposed this thoughtless talkative that does not remember good deeds and inflicted this pain on the River state.
Secondly, I feel highly disappointed by the way our President Bola A Tinubu have allowed this crisis to fester. I had earlier thought that he had the capacity to rule Nigeria as a President, but from the showings on ground, it is evident that I had a misplaced value on President Tinubu’s leadership capacity.
Thirdly, It is sad to note and believe that the intelligence agencies like the
DSS and the NIA with the National Security Advisor are either not passing the right happenings on ground to Mr. President or he may have been ignoring their briefs.
President Tinubu should know that what goes around comes around. Yesterday it was Eastern Nigeria government attempt to suppress the Niger Delta and the Ijaw and it backfired and the now the South East in crisis. A few years back, the Northerners attempt to humiliate the Ijaw man out of office through the use of Boko Haram that has resulted in crises and insecurity in the North. Now Mr Tinubu is being goaded into a wrath by one unstable friend in person of Wike who will abandon you at the nick of time, just the way he did to Odili, Amaechi, Goodluck Jonathan, Atiku Abubakak, etc. Wike is a fairweather friend that detest cultivating permanent friendship.
Mr President by the time Wike finishes with you, the Yoruba nation would have incurred the anger of the Ijawman. The the spirits that have protected the Ijaw Nation over the years will bring the wrath on the Yoruba to teach them a lesson that could be worse than what’s has happened to those who attempted to humiliate us. Remember what goes around comes around.
The Federal might and the Supreme Court you are using to intimidate and abuse us, we will come certainly out of it victoriously. We have faced bigger and more difficult challenges than this.
