The trailer for a new Prime Video original series has drawn comparisons to one of Nicholas Hoult‘s films. Fans were quick to point out the similarities between the two IPs. While some are excited to watch the show, other viewers seem unimpressed.
I Would Rather Die‘s trailer depicts a story that is summed up as “Between being a teen and being a teen zombie, growing up has never been this hard.” Fans immediately saw the parallels between the new show and the 2013 film Warm Bodies, which stars Hoult in a leading role.

What happens in the I Would Rather Die trailer?
The show’s synopsis reads, “After being bitten by a zombie at the corner mini-mart, Archie, the high school loser, along with his goth-girl best friend and his platonic crush, try to stop an evil plot that could unleash the apocalypse to Mendoza, the unremarkable provincial Mexican town where they live. A pyramid scheme selling vitamins, a group of hardcore religious ladies, and a school bully are just some of the things they must face in their quest to figure out what the hell is happening.”
Given the show’s blend of teen romance and comedy, fans were quick to draw comparisons to Hoult’s Warm Bodies, which has a very similar premise. The film stars Hoult as a zombie and similarly combines romance and comedy with several horror elements, all of which I Would Rather Die also boasts of.
There’s already a small but eager audience ready for this project, highlighting its potential for success. Some are excited at the prospect of a project like Warm Bodies, while others feel that the story treads well-trodden ground.
The show is set to release on Prime Video on October 2. It remains to be seen whether comparisons with Warm Bodies will continue after its release.
