Helldivers 2 Is About to Give Players a Doomsday Button They’ll Barely Get to Use

Much like how terrifyingly powerful the Death Star’s infamous beam was, Super Earth is looking to match the firepower in Helldivers 2. The weapon is called the Star of Peace. While it’s still a little far from completion, we have taken a big step in making it somewhat stable.

When the weapon is fully developed and becomes stable, it will effectively be a doomsday button in Helldivers hands. The weapon shows Arrowhead’s boldest attempt at making a destructive weapon, capable of erasing a planet in the name of Managed Democracy.

The Star of Peace is by far the Super Earth’s most extreme expression of military might. It’s designed as a planet-destroying weapon; it goes far beyond any orbital strikes or hellbomb, offering the ability to permanently remove worlds from the galactic map.

Recent Major Orders have already hinted at just how powerful the weapon is, as it takes a foreign component to build such a device. Helldivers were tasked with holding key planets long enough to extract heat-resistant components from Automaton forces.

The extracted materials are now being reforged into a shield that will protect the Star of Peace from its own catastrophic thermal output. This wasn’t a symbolic effort; it was a necessary step toward containing a weapon powerful enough to tear a planet apart.

This is not a distant concept but a not-too-distant future that will see us use this weapon on some planet. There is excitement for the developement but players are also cautious.

Despite its destructive power, which is supposed to be equivalent to planet-ending, DSS’s Star of Peace weapon won’t be something Helldivers can casually deploy. Everything about it suggests limitation: logistical, strategic, and political.

The resources required: E-711 is available to Super Earth in very limited capability. So, helldivers have to be very specific about their possible targets, and the consequences of using it mean activation will likely be rare and deliberate.

Super Earth can’t afford reckless annihilation, and neither can the war effort in Helldivers 2. Rather than a frequent solution, the Star of Peace feels like a last-resort option as SE has seen consequences with Meridia, which backfired a lot.

Super Earth will need to provide proper justification before using the weapon. So, it’s a weapon that exists more as a statement of power than a tool of convenience, ensuring that when it’s finally used, it actually means something.
