Harrison Gwamnishu, calls for justice for married woman filmed being assaulted by her husband

Human Rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has called for justice after a married woman who has over the years, allegedly suffered domestic violence from her husband. 

Harrison stated that he received the disturbing video of the woman being assaulted by her husband in the presence of their baby and another adult who may be their house help or relative. 

He said this wasn’t the first or second time the husband had attempted to ‘’k!ll” his wife. He mentioned that the woman had visited the police to report the matter on several occasions but was turned back by the officers who insist that it is a ‘’family matter’ and that they need to go and settle it themselves. 

‘’Each time the police will say it is family issue. The family will be released on bail and nothing will happen. The beating will continue.”

He said some people who knew about her situation, reached out to him for help.

‘’When you tell most of these women to leave the marriage, people say you are trying to encourage separation of true lovers. When it comes to this stage, flee! Run! There is no way you can stay. When it comes to this stage where the man wants to kill the wife or the wife wants to kill the husband, you need to leave”
