Alan Cumming is hinting that another major X-Men character will be included in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the MCU movie is scheduled to arrive in 2026. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.
What did Alan Cumming say about Avengers: Doomsday?
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Cumming was asked if Halle Berry will appear in Doomsday as the X-Men’s Ororo Munroe/Storm.
“Well. Maybe she does [show up],” Cumming answered. “Honestly, I’m the last person to ask.”
When Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner pointed out that Cumming is the “first person” to ask, given he’s already leaked some Avengers: Doomsday secrets, the Nightcrawler actor continued, “No, I suppose I am…I got into trouble for talking about it earlier on. And I’ve been trying to sort of muddy the waters ever since.”
Cumming previously let it slip that Nightcrawler has a fight scene with Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in Avengers: Doomsday. He then said he got a call from his publicist and was reprimanded about spoiling a plot point in the movie.
Whether or not Berry does return as Storm in Doomsday remains to be seen. It’s worth noting that she was open to reprising her X-Men role in Deadpool & Wolverine; however, Wade Wilson actor Ryan Reynolds never asked her to do so.
Along with Cumming, a number of other X-Men actors and characters have been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, including Kelsey Grammar’s Hank McCoy/Beast, Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Rebecca Romijn’s Raven Darkhölme/Mystique, James Marsden’s Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Channing Tatum’s Remy LeBeau/Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026, from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Secret Wars will then be released one year later, on December 17, 2027.
