2025 has seen Godzilla take on many of Marvel Comics‘ mightiest heroes. However, this was just the appetizer before the main course of Kaiju chaos and Marvel mayhem. This July will pit the King of the Monsters against all of Earth-616’s heroes in Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe.

Announced today in The Warp, the five-part miniseries’ creative team is led by Invincible Iron Man author Gerry Duggan, who will script the story. The artwork will be provided by Uncanny X-Men artist Javier Garrón. A wrap-around cover for the first issue, created by Mark Brooks, was also unveiled. This cover may be viewed in full below.

Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe culmination of crossovers

“In our previous one shots, fans have seen some wild and unexpected moments,” noted editor Mark Paniccia. “But I promise you that Gerry will have everyone stunned, shocked and craving more with this series. It’s jam-packed with explosive beats that will surprise and thrill both Godzilla and Marvel fans!”

“Godzilla was as important to me as Marvel Comics growing up,” Duggan shared. “My father enjoyed watching baseball on TV, and I would root for rain outs so the NYC stations would run a Godzilla movie. When I discovered that Godzilla had appeared in the Marvel Universe, I obsessively collected every issue. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be contributing to the tradition of Godzilla rampaging in the Marvel Universe. This is the very biggest event of the summer, and everyone is getting in on the action. Javier Garrón is doing the very best work of his career, and this will be an immortal comic book.”

Garrón was equally enthusiastic about Duggan, describing the series as “a monstrous opportunity to team up again with Gerry.” He added that he was “having the time of my life wreaking havoc with Gerry and the rest of the team.”

Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on July 16, 2025.
