Unlike random loot, this Gizmo guarantees a Sprite you don’t already own, which makes it one of the most valuable items currently in the game, and also one of the hardest to get your hands on.

The Lucky Locator is a one-time-use Extraction Gizmo built around a single job: pointing you toward a buried Sprite Chest and confirming, before you even dig, that what’s inside hasn’t been added to your collection yet. What sets it apart from the standard Sprite Locator is that it guarantees with a hologram preview which Sprite is waiting underground, so there’s no gambling.
That guarantee is what makes it so sought-after. Every rarity variant of a Sprite counts as a separate unlock, and with over 100 Sprites currently in the game, tracking down that last handful of rare variants through pure luck can eat up hours.
Where to Get the Lucky Locator

You won’t find this one sitting in a chest or an ammo box. Epic has kept it out of regular loot pools, and the only way to earn it is through the Sprite Mastery Rewards track:
From the lobby, open Battle Royale or Zero Build and pull up your Sprites tab.
Switch over to the Rewards section within Sprite Mastery.
Drop into a match with a Sprite equipped.
Rack up XP for it by looting, getting eliminations, or helping teammates while it’s active.
Bank that progress by extracting safely or closing out the match with a win.
Keep this up until an individual Sprite reaches mastery level 5, then do it for 50 different Sprites in total.
Head back into Rewards and pick up the Lucky Locator sitting at Mastery Level 50.
It’s important to note that players are capped at one Lucky Locator per account, so treat it as a limited resource rather than something you’ll be able to farm repeatedly.
How to Use the Lucky Locator

Once it’s in your inventory, using it is straightforward:
Pull out your pickaxe and hold down Y on Xbox, Triangle on PlayStation, or L on keyboard, which should bring up the Gizmo Wheel.
Cycle over to the Lucky Locator using your stick or mouse.
Confirm the selection with RT/R2 on controller or a left-click to fire it off.
Your map updates with a pin showing where the Sprite Chest is buried.
Head over and swing your pickaxe at the marked spot to unearth it.
Pick up the Sprite and make for a Portable Extractor quickly, since anyone nearby could try to jump the extraction.
