Prime Video’s Spider-Noir swings into dark territory with its Depression-era setting and noir tributes. The Nicolas Cage-starring series has plenty of action, mystery, and morally gray characters who meet devastating ends. Joshua Ryan of FandomWire praised the show for its tribute to the noir genre and the Marvel lore.
While some deaths, like that of Ben’s fiancée Ruby, serve to move the character forward, others are simply consequences of the plot. True to the genre, the show features alleyway gunshots, experimental executions, and torturous deaths. Here are all the characters who die in Spider-Noir Season 1.

Spoiler Alert !!!Contains spoilers for Spider-Noir Season 1
1. James Addison
Jack Mikesell in Spider-Noir | Credits: Prime Video
James Addison’s death kick-starts the central mystery of the series. Spider-Noir begins with Nicolas Cage’s Ben Reilly following Addison after being hired by a client. However, Addison knows he is being followed and tries to escape Ben before both are confronted by a hired gun, Donegal, who has been tasked with killing him.
It is also revealed that Addison has a pyro superpower, which he uses to blast Donegal. This becomes the central question of the series, as Ben begins investigating the supers who seem to be under attack. It is later revealed that Donegal is the one who killed Addison.
2. Donegal
Cameron Britton in Mindhunter | Credits: Netflix
While no death is a proper plot twist, Donegal’s death is a big surprise. Donegal is captured by Silvermane’s men, who want to extract information from him about Addison. But in episode 1, he shoots and kills Donegal, revealing himself as the true antagonist (which is no surprise, by the way).
Donegal’s death is the first major shock of the season and establishes Silvermane’s ruthless, no-loose-ends philosophy. He is the crime boss everyone should fear and the key to the whole plot.
3. Winston
Lukas Haas in Inception | Credits: Warner Bros.
Winston is Silvermane’s second-in-command and his loyal, trusted associate. But Ben frames Winston as the traitor to protect Cat, which leads Silvermane to kill Winston with a gunshot, though he seemingly buys Ben’s story with no further questions. It is yet another moment of ruthlessness from the mafia boss, proving that no one is safe and that sympathy has no place in Silvermane’s world.
It also shows how far Ben and Cat are willing to let their morals slip. They frame an innocent man — a fiercely loyal one, at that. True to its name, the Spider-Noir world is dark and morally gray. Silvermane also kills Gio in this episode, another henchman who is loyal to him.
4. Dr. Faber
Amy Aquino in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier | Credits: Disney+
This is probably one of the saddest deaths in the series. Dr. Faber only wants to cure her son, Ogden, who is also a prisoner of war and has been experimented on like Ben. However, she plans to extract genetic material from Ben to cure her son, which would result in Ben’s death. Instead, she becomes the victim.
Ogden tries to do the right thing and saves Ben from certain doom, and they almost manage to escape. But Silvermane and his men arrive, thanks to Robbie’s reporting on Dr. Faber’s location, and confront them. Dirk Leydon then ruthlessly kills both Dr. Faber and Ogden with his electric powers, igniting a fire that destroys the lab.
It highlights the unintended collateral damage this whole situation causes, as well as the burden of responsibility that comes with Ben’s great power.
5. Dirk Leydon
Andrew Lewis Caldwell in Spider-Noir | Credits: Prime Video
The electric-powered villain Megawatt, a.k.a. Dirk Leydon, has been a formidable foe throughout the season. While Ben Reilly tries to uncover how veterans are being abused, Megawatt is the anomaly who revels in the power he has gained. He even kills the detective who tortures and interrogates him, and does so in a chillingly satisfying way.
But he is finally killed by Ben Reilly, who chases him into the subway and pushes him in front of an oncoming train. It is a brutally satisfying end for a ruthless villain, who dies like a bookend with his own powers working against him. However, he is not the only villain who dies in the ending of Spider-Noir.
6. Silvermane
Probably the most shocking death of the season is the downfall of the big bad himself. Brendan Gleeson’s Silvermane is shot by Cat Hardy in the finale, bringing an end to the mafia boss’s reign of terror (and Gleeson’s role in an as-yet-unannounced season 2).
It is certainly a surprising death, as he is such a formidable villain. We do not get to see this version of Silvermane transform into his comic book counterpart, but it is what it is.
