Prime Video is heading into April 2026 with a globally diverse lineup of original series. Leading the lineup is the highly anticipated final season of The Boys. But while we eagerly wait for Homelander’s ultimate fate, Prime Video is also rolling out a host of other original programming.

Prime Video is stepping up its game with a diverse range of content this April. The original shows include anime, reality reboots, and international dramas. If you love a mix of all of these, you’re in for a treat. Check out our friendly guide to all the confirmed Amazon Original TV shows coming this April, ranked by their release dates (via Amazon MGM Studios Press).

Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun (Season 1)

Prime Video will kick off April with a major anime launch titled Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun. Set in a near future where Japan is devastated by nuclear war, natural disasters, and corrupt governance, the country is split into three competing nations.

The story follows Aoteru Misumi, a former local government official, who rises through the ranks using his vast knowledge and exceptional eloquence. He aims for the “reunification of Japan.” This legend later came to be known as a genius military strategist.

The series is based on the acclaimed manga by Ikka Matsuki. Directed by Kazuaki Terasawa (The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2, Woke-Up-as-a-Girl Syndrome from Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26), the anime comes from the leading animation studio, Studio Kafka. The voice cast includes Kensho Ono, Jun Fukuyama, Asami Seto, and Yuichi Nakamura (via Amazon MGM Studios Press).

The Boys Season 5

By far the most talked-about release of April is the fifth and final season of The Boys. The superhero satire will return with its most intense storyline yet, following the cliffhanger of Season 4’s major betrayal by Billy Butcher. Homelander is controlling the United States, forcing the nation to come under fascist rule, where he is more powerful but increasingly miserable.

The Boys season 5 will set up an all-out war between The Boys and Vought’s supes. Butcher, having fully embraced his extremist ideology, is aiming to eliminate all Supes using a dangerous Supe-killing virus. Even Homelander seeks to bolster his absolute power and fight off increasing misery.

Season 5 includes the return of fan favorites and series regulars, including Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, alongside special appearances from Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and more. The series has built its reputation on deconstructing the superhero genre. With all the excitement surrounding it, season 5 is expected to deliver a thrilling, action-packed conclusion. Mark your calendars for the final season.

American Gladiators (Season 1)

April will bring the return of a classic competition show. American Gladiators is the latest iteration of the iconic competition show that originally aired in 1989. Hosted by WWE star The Miz, the series pits everyday competitors against 16 larger-than-life new gladiators in physically demanding challenges.

The classic events like Joust, Powerball, Hang Tough, and The Wall are returning alongside high-impact new challenges like The Ring and Collision (via Amazon MGM Studio Press). While it may not carry the narrative weight of Amazon’s dramas, it could serve as an entertainment option for viewers looking for adrenaline-pumping action and competition.

Absolute Value of Romance (Season 1)

Another show coming on April 17 is a Korean drama named Absolute Value of Romance. The story follows a high school girl, Yeo Eui-ju, who lives a double life. By day, she is an unassuming high schooler, and by night, she secretly writes BL web novels and dreams of literary fame. Her inspiration strikes in the form of her four irresistibly charming new teachers. However, she finds herself entangled in a real-life version of her own stories.

Starring Kim Hyang-gi, Cha Hak-yeon, and Kim Jae-hyun, the series is directed by Lee Tae-gon and Kim Jun-hyung (via Amazon MGM Studio Press). The drama will premiere worldwide on Prime Video (except South Korea and Mainland China). As the original network, the series will be available on Coupang Play in South Korea. The k-drama will be the best pick if you love a coming-of-age story full of clumsy teenage moments.

Kevin (Season 1)

After an anime, a reality competitive show, and a K-drama, Prime Video is bringing an animated comedy into the lineup. Kevin follows a talking cat who decides that he doesn’t want to live with people anymore. Loosely inspired by a real break-up and the cat caught in the middle, Kevin tells the story about finding where you belong in the world. After his human’s break-up, Kevin moved into a local pet rescue in Astoria, Queens, where a chaotic band of misfit animals helped him figure out what he really wants out of life.

Created by Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert, the show leans into absurd humor and existential themes. The series is Plaza’s largest writing role to date. She is also lending her voice for Dana, one of the humans whom Kevin left behind. Meanwhile, Wengert also serves as the showrunner of the animated series (via Amazon MGM Studios Press).

Cangaço Novo (Season 2)

The Brazilian crime drama, Cangaço Novo (New Bandits), is returning for a second season. Building on the success of its debut season in 2023, the show explores regional crime, power dynamics, and systemic corruption. In the new season, the three siblings, Ubaldo, DIlvânia, and Dinorah, face even more dangerous challenges in their war against the Maleiros.

Following the brutal death of Ernesto, Ubaldo is driven by a relentless quest for justice. It leads him to question his criminal life further while trying to balance his leadership role. The siblings directly confront Gastão Maleiro and Mayor Paulino Leite in an attempt to end the systemic corruption and violence in the fictional city of Cratará. Allan Souza Lima, Alice Carvalho, and Thainá Duarte will return as the central siblings along with some new cast. (via Amazon MGM Studio Press).

Naughty Business (Season 1)

Joining the lineup the same day on April 24 is this new Spanish original series, Naughty Business (Cochinas). Set in 1988, Nines, a conservative housewife, must take charge of the family video store when her husband falls into a coma. She discovered that the business went bankrupt, so she decided to specialise in their only profitable genre, porn.

Thankfully, she has the store employees, Chon and Agu, to turn “Dorothy” into the city’s first adult video store. The place ends up becoming the epicenter of an earthquake among the neighbourhood residents. The cast includes Malena Alterio, Celia Morán, and Álvaro Mel.

Closing out the month is one of Prime Video’s most prestigious releases, The House of the Spirits. Based on the acclaimed novel by Isabel Allende, this is the first Spanish-language television adaptation of the story.

The eight-episode series spans 50 years and follows three generations of women: Clara, Blanca, and Alba, in a politically volatile South American country shaped by class conflict, political upheaval, and magic.

The cast includes Alfonso Herrera, Dolores Fonzi, Nicole Wallace (the lead from the popular Culpables trilogy), Aline Kuppenheim, Fernanda Urrejola, and Eduard Fernández. Produced by FilmNation Entertainment, the series debuted at the 76th Berlinale Film Festival ahead of its global launch. The first three episodes drop on April 29, followed by weekly releases through mid-May (via Amazon News).
