Elden Ring Nightreign goes off track from the FromSoftware fashion, and instead of letting players design their own character from scratch, instead offers pre-made warriors with stats excelling in different types of builds, be that strength or faith.
And while the idea of the same sounds simple enough, it’s inevitable that a few of these warriors, also called the Nightfarers, will often be overlooked by the player base. In Nightreign, that one warrior is the Guardian, a defense-heavy Nightfarer. Thankfully enough, the latest Everdark Sovereign boss seems to be finally changing perspectives towards him.

The above diagram, which is possibly the best use of MS Paint anyone has made in recent times, seems to explain quite nicely why the Guardian is simply a better option against the latest challenge Elden Ring Nightreign has to offer, finally giving it some long-deserved relevance.
Elden Ring Nightreign: The Guardian Deserves More Love
The Guardian in Elden Ring Nightreign is looked over unnecessarily | FromSoftware
Despite being regarded as one of the most boring bosses of the game, even after getting an Everdark Sovereign version of itself, Augur has finally come to the use of the Guardian main players who were tired of exclaiming that the most overlooked Nightfarer is one of the best in the game.

Everdark Sovereign Augur is an enhanced variant of the classic Nightlord Augur. This limited-time expedition boss, available for just a few days before FromSoftware takes it away, poses a fair bit of challenge to the players attempting to beat it.
However, while all the other Nightfarers seem to have a hard time against the boss, just like the studio wanted it to be, The Guardian seems to be doing fairly well against Augur, finally delivering the validation every Guardian player was waiting for ever since the launch.

The Guardian is the ultimate shield-bearer, but is often left out by players seeking flashier or more aggressive builds. However, his defensive abilities are finally coming into play with the Everdark Sovereign Augur now in-game, with his tanking abilities and shield blocks becoming the sole reason why many teams are able to overcome the latest boss.
FromSoftware Might Need to Trace Their Steps Back With the Guardian in Elden Ring Nightreign
The Guardian probably needs a reword in Elden Ring Nightreign | FromSoftware
There are two different perspectives to look at Guardian from, and the role he plays in Elden Ring Nightreign. The first is how he is simply not aggressive enough, as much as players who are used to Souls games would like. His defensive capabilities are rendered useless by those who have been practicing their parrying and dodging skills for years, making other Nightfarers a better choice.

The other way to look at him is through a technical lens. Guardian came to save the day against the latest Everdark Sovereign boss, but that just proves that the warrior becomes useful in just a handful of situations, and that would call for a rework.
Either way, FromSoftware has some work to do if they want this particular Nightfarer to shine more, and that would include some tweaks in the coming updates. Would you like to see the Guardian getting reworked? Let us know about it in the comments below!
