Dragon Ball: Toyotarou Gives Mr. Satan a Legendary Super Saiyan Transformation
Spread the love

Once again, Toyotarou attempts to prove why he is the perfect successor to the Dragon Ball franchise. His latest illustration of “Super Mr. Satan” looks absolutely stunning. Essentially, he gave Mr. Satan a brand-new look that resembles a potential new Super Saiyan transformation.

Along with the illustration, Toyotarou added a brief explanation of its inspiration. He claims that it is his own imagination of a fanciful version of Mr. Satan, which he attained after gaining godlike powers. He also reminds fans that it doesn’t necessarily have to be true. So, maybe it’s all just for fun.

This is a fanciful version of Mr. Satan, transformed after gaining godlike powers. It’s a lie born from the idea that he saved the world. But perhaps, it doesn’t really matter to the people whether or not it’s true. Everyone loves Mr. Satan the Hero!Toyotarou

But given that Toyotarou is now the creative head / official successor of the Dragon Ball Super manga, is there any possibility that he could make “Super Mr. Satan” canon in some future story arc? Our assumptions about that, along with the origin of this special illustration, are explained below.

What Is the Origin of Toyotarou’s “Super Mr. Satan”?

Since late 2017, Toyotarou has often tried his hand at drawing different Dragon Ball characters in his own interpretations, which are released as special Dragon Ball illustrations. In a similar scenario, the “Super Mr. Satan” illustration is also his own version of Mr. Satan that you won’t find in any canon storyline. However, it’s also very clear what Toyotarou’s inspiration was behind “Super Mr. Satan”.

In Dragon Ball Super Episode 15, “Make a Miracle, Satan the Hero! A Challenge from Outer Space“, Mr. Satan lies about how he achieved Super Saiyan and fought against Beerus. And the more he kept saying, the more convincing it started to sound. And at one point, he starts to believe it himself. Thus, the illustration certainly depicts the version of Mr. Satan that he was lying about himself.

Previously, as the 100th illustration in this series, Toyotarou drew an elderly Goku. On another occasion, he drew a group of five mad scientists from the Dragon Ball franchise, featuring Paparoni, Dr. Rota, Kikono, Dr. Flappe, and Dr. Collie. And the list goes on. You can find all of Toyotarou’s special illustrations here, under Toyotarou Tried to Draw. All of these sketches look so picture-perfect.

Will Toyotarou’s Version of Mr. Satan Ever Be Canon?

Since Mr. Satan is still alive in the ongoing Dragon Ball Super manga’s universe, we can’t completely rule out the possibility of Super Mr. Satan becoming a reality. However, it wouldn’t exactly be a Super Saiyan transformation by definition. After all, Mr. Satan is a normal human with no Saiyan biology. Therefore, he lacks S-Cells and Saiyan heritage, which are essential for triggering a Super Saiyan transformation.

However, in a future Dragon Ball Super storyline, there may come a time when Mr. Satan pushes past his limits and achieves a form that is very similar to Toyotarou’s version of Super Mr. Satan. Who knows? A “Super Hercule” might actually become a thing if that ever happens. What do you think?

The Dragon Ball anime is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll, and you can also read the ongoing Dragon Ball Super manga on VIZ Media.
